Just OK

We stayed here for a couple of nights in the summer. We had a Siam Classic Suite, which was nice. However, there were many cockroaches in the room and also the rain water came in from the window when it was raining very hard. I guess the hotel need some maintence.

The staff was pretty friendly but their English skills need some improvement. We felt that we had to explain everything over and over again before we were really understood. The restaurants in the hotel were very overpriced.

The pool was horrible! The pool area cannot exactly be called very nice and the pool was filthy (with bird droppings etc.). We even heard of people getting eye infections from the pool.

The breakfast was ok. Some reviews state it is great so perhaps we had bad luck there. However, everyone should find something to eat there. I always ate an "Asian breakfast" because the Western selection wasn't very vast.

There is a small boat that takes you across the river to the Ayutthaya island for 4 bahts. It leaves from the river bank directly opposite to the railway station. Good way to get to the center. The best way to shop is not in the center and you have to take a tuctuc there. The place is called Ayutthaya Park and the ride cost us 60-100 baht one way. There are a lot of restaurants and shops there.

For the price we paid we were surprised how flash this hotel was when we arrived. We were impressed with the size and luxury of the place. However, after checking in we by-passed the somewhat time-warped main "Italian" dining room in favor of a starry-skied dinner outside alongside the river with a duo playing acoustic cover tunes while we feasted on Thai seafood and a bottle of halfway decent red wine. We favour smaller, more personal hotels but this place was great, particularly with the off season price we got. Recommended. I admit we didn't try anywhere else, but we had absolutely no complaints. Oh wait, the elevator at the restaurant level wasn't working. Otherwise, we were happy as clams.

Room tip: Most of the rooms seem to have a view, so it's pretty hard to go wrong.

What really sold us on staying at this hotel was that it was 5 minute walk from the train station. We came to Ayutthaya to see the sights in the old city and ba pa in the next morning before heading even more north by train, and we wanted a convenient location that wouldn't require haggling over fares with tuk tuk drivers. So this place was just that! It's a 5 min tuk tuk drive over the river to the center...we hired a tuk tuk driver for the day who was stationed outside of the hotel. For like $20USD, he took us to every sight possible. Definitely worth it!

The rooms are totally adequate...simple, but clean and quiet. I don't know if anything in Ayutthaya is going to blow you away in terms of quality or luxury, but this seemed like a pretty good choice given the small assortment of choices in the city. The pool was well heated, even if it's not the most glamorous of pools in Thailand.

Our rate included breakfast, which was buffet of both Western and Eastern choices. Also paid for lunch here on our 2nd day before leaving, also buffet but super cheap at like $8USD per person for a huge meal.

We'd probably stay here again if we redid the trip...the pure convenience of the place was well worth it.

We stayed here in April 2012 for 2 nights whilst visiting Ayutthaya. It was an average experience - the rooms were fine but slightly dated alongside the rest of the hotel. The windows overlooking the river/pool could do with a decent cleaning as they hindered the nice views. The bathroom looked like it had been recently updated and the shower was very decent. The hotel was extremely quiet giving it a lack of atmosphere.

The facilities in the hotel were actually very good - there is a bowling alley & snooker hall downstairs, however these are very overpriced and underused. We were disappointed with the attitude of the staff demanding we pay immediately for all facilities rather than being treated as leisurely hotel guests. The hotel is also overpriced for drinks and snacks - a small bottle of water costs 60 baht.

The location of the hotel is ok, the outdoor restaurant looked lovely but we decided against eating there due to alot of mosquitos beside the river. The indoor part of the restaurant was where we had our standard buffet breakfast. The hotel has two other restaurants which was handy as there is no town close by - We dined in the Italian restaurant downstairs on the first night which was also overpriced, overattentive service (too quiet!!!) but lovely food. We ate in the Chinese restaurant on the first floor on our second night where we were served gloopy noodles which was very disappointing. It seemed the only way to get around was by Tuk Tuk - not for the faint hearted and watch out for stray dogs which are in abundance especially around the train station.

We found that the otels in Ayutthaya were not all that great for some reason. I thought this close to Bangkok we would find some decent hotels with reasonable prices. Initially at the Ayodhara Viliage, DO NOT GO THERE!

Krungsri River was comfortable, and reasonably priced but not great. We got there and enjoyed the buffet lunch which was not too bad, good selection of international and Thai and the staff were friendly. Coffee was good!
The rooms were comfortable, at least the AC worked fine which was inportant for the hot season. Not much of a view but then we were just happy to have gotten a room and the place I mentioned above, we couldn't wait to get out of there.
The pool was small but adequate to cool off in. Was very disappointed the next day when we tried to get into the excercise room and work out. Closed until 1400!! what sense does that make to have it closed in the morning times. My only real complaint of the hotel and no one could really explain why.
Breakfast was just OK. Not a great selection, ended up with just the basics of eggs and some meat, juice and coffee and the other didn't look that appealing.
Not bad. Another good thing about their location was if you arrive or depart by train, the station is located only about 800-1000 yards down the road.

Room tip: The adjoining room was a bit noisy for some reason. Also, this place caters to tour groups, a lot of them. Try to get a room that does not adjoin, not sure it would have been any quieter, but it wasn't that bad either.

We stayed for 1 night & were created by friendly staff with an ice cold drink. Out room was on the 7th floor & the window opened wide with no safety features so be aware if you are travelling with children.
The bed, shower & room were just fine, there was a room safe & the hairdryer was in a pretty little bag (nice touch).
The hotel is actually painted white now - see picture. Check in & out was easy.
There is a beautiful gold Wat to the left as you go out of the hotel.
You have to go to the 1st floor to find the swimming pool - & the lifts don't go down to the basement for some odd reason.
The riverside restaurant is a nice environment, but we found the food expensive & overrated - the Lieto restaurant served me raw salmon which we sent back, & the whole meal was very salty. I would definitely eat elsewhere.
We slept fine & the breakfast was fine.
Overall, not much character but offering good facilities - let down by the food for us.

Room tip: Higher the better for the views.
