This is quite a big hotel, to get to it you can walk out the station, cross the road and turn left and it's just before the bridge.

Check in was quick, staff were really helpful and gave us a map and they were available to give some local info as well.

The rooms were pretty big with a shower, bath, fridge, tv and air con.

The restraunt in the hotel was good, we had Italian food but I think having Thai food is probably a better option that there wont be very many Italian chefs around the place.

Also, in comparison to local places for food, it was quite expensive but the service was excellent.

On the last day, we attempted to get a later check out but the hotel was full. This didn't matter though as the hotel were happy to allow us to leave our luggage and there was a shower up near the swimming pool to use (not as good having a room but was a good alternative).

For the City itself, you come out the hotel, go left walk up take another left (there's a sign) and get on the wee ferry to get on to the main part of the city. Although this is a hotel review so feel free to message me if you want specific info on the city :-)

Hotel is situated just outside old town - walk less than 5 minutes towards the railway station and take the ferry to old town. Some rooms are load others are very silent so be careful when booking or checking-in. We stayed only 1 night due to our travel plans but would have enjoyed a longer stay, too.

The hotel was quiet when we stayed, and even so, the booking in and out process seemed to take appreciably longer than at other hotels on our trip.

The interconnected rooms were well positioned and had good facilities within them. They were also very clean and soundproofing to adjacent areas was excellent.

Regarding food, in the locality, there were few other options. Within the hotel, there was choice (3 restaurants), but the quality of the food that we received (diner & breakfast) was poor and expensive. Also, the service significantly sub-standard - almost everything delivered had a problem and it took a long time before all members of the party had received their (correct & hot) dishes. I would prefer not to have had to refuse to pay the 10% service charge that had been automatically added - especially as the manager (who knew there was a problem) hid and received messages through his other staff.

Perfectly nice hotel. On top floor, with River view, room was in perfect nick. Everything fresh, clean, new, working good. Saw other hotels in town at less than half the cost, but for the $55 for a room here with no complaints, this was a great stay. Gym, pool both nice. Restaurant with outdoor terrace overlooking the River was pleasant place to eat, with good menu and food. As for location: can walk to train, and to ferry. Taxi to historical part of town was $1.50. Unless your tourism style includes a determined reckoning of every cent, the Krungsri River Hotel is ideal for 2 nights seeing Ayuttaya. It's popular with tourist groups for good reason.

We stayed one night at the Krungsri River Hotel in December 2010. It is a short walk from the Ayutthaya train station and also the ferry boat to the central part of the city (the ferry leaves from the end of the street that is directly across from the main door into the train station). This close proximity is a big plus, as you don't have to enagage a taxi or tuk tuk if you arrive or depart by train.

The hotel itself is clean and serves as a fine base for exploring the World Heritage Site of Ayutthaya.

Tip 1: Check out the three piece band that plays evenings in the "Italian Pub" in the basement of the hotel. The lead singer is pretty talented.

Tip 2: Once you get off the ferry on the Ayutthaya side of the river and go up the steps, there's an eatery immeadiately on the left called "Smile" that also rents bicycles. The food is cheap and good and the bikes are a great way to explore the ruins.
