good place

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jul 21, 2013
Recent GH, we stayed here for about one week, the place is clean and very quite,
the staff are nice and sweet Thai family.
Inside the room is very peasant in the eyes, its near historic park. WiFi work good in room and good relaxing music in Restaurant. Just a little bit expensive.

It Ayuthaya you will not find an abundance of Guest Houses all over the place and it is a big city, so it is definitely a good idea to book first and know where you are going so that you can tell the tuk tuk or taxi driver. This guest house is a very good choice.

Single rooms start at 350 baht and you still get air con and a TV and fridge. Great value. You can get a double for 450 I believe. Clean, quiet and a family run business with staff who are happy to assist. You can rent bikes, motorbikes and they have fast wifi. Also a restaurant, although I did not try the food and note that it closes at 8PM.

Excellent location right near the ruins and walking distance to the nightlife areas. They will give you a map and mark everywhere clearly for you that you need.

An excellent choice for Ayuthaya. It is not near the bus station but you can arrnage travel from the agent just nearby and they will pick you right up from here.

We had breakfast in the Grandparent's Home restaurant and it was terrible. Overpriced and very low quality. My pineapple smoothie had TONS of sugar, the toasts were just ok and the scrambled eggs had too much pepper. Very basic. Western prices.

Love this little place. For the price, this place is value for money.
The location is good and is at the start point of the ancient ruins, the park.
However, if u are taking a train, then u will need to take a tuk tuk in.
It cost me 40baht to get from the ferry to the guest house.
However, the bus stop to bangkok is on the same street, 5 mins walk away which was an obvious choice for me.

Service wise, they are nice and friendly. I booked the guest house online and got the dates wrong. However, the staff was willing to switch the dates for me and thus I did not have to pay for the mistake.

Room is basic but is more than enough for an overnight trip. There is TV and aircon. WiFi works well and I am typing this review while still staying here.

It's really too hot to walk around the park. Given most of the ruins are within the same proximity, renting a bike to ride around the place is the most fun and economical way to explore the place. It takes about 3-4 hours to go around.

Night market is about 10 mins walks away, it is good to end the cycling trip at the night market for some bites before returning it.

Around the corner, opposite wat ratchaburana has some good noodles stalls, which is worth trying.

We stayed one night at Grandparent's Home. Upon arrival, we checked into the hotel. The room was very clean as there is a no shoe policy in the room. The room came with AC and a TV. The only part that I didn't like was that the bathroom was extremely tight. The toilet was almost touching the sink. In addition, there was a pipe from the sink that lead to the shower area which is a bit gross. Our room came with breakfast, but the breakfast was really disappointing. It was a cup of coffee and two pieces of bread. The room was cheap too which was over $20 USD per room.

I really liked how close we were to the ruins since they were within walking distance. We were only able to see the Wat Mahathat and Wat Ratcha Burana. We were also close to the Night Market which had some amazing street food and shopping.

You do need to take a taxi to get to the train station and/or bus station, which is a bummer. We went to the Ayutthaya Bus Station to take the AC bus to Sukhothai.

It is nice to stay in a place that is exactly what it says. Clean, tidy, efficient. Super friendly staff and real good value for money. Slap bang in the middle of the main attractions. I walked around but I don't recommend it - it was too damn hot and I melted. They rent bikes or mopeds. This is the sensible option. Food is fresh cooked and fine, beer is cold. What more could you want.
