This review only applies to the higher end/more expensive rooms at Baifern. The positives: The grounds, dining and lounge areas are very attractive. The people who run it seem nice and friendly. The negatives: The location may not be the handiest, depending on whether you want to walk or drive/shuttle to certain sites. There is a 24 hour gas pump located right next door which tends to attract late night scooters for fill up. The breakfast may not be the best deal for the price. The room we were in had the shower head in one corner, with the drain located in the opposite corner under the sink. This translated to "don't take a shower until you are done with the bathroom for quite some time" as the floor was essentially flooded throughout the entire bathroom, excluding you from using it until it dried, which could be the next day. The toilet was located on an elevated section, but you had to cross "the moat" to get to it. There was also a distinct sewer odor from the drain in the bathroom which permeated the room. They have bicycles that can be rented, but they are in poor condition, and no helmets are offered.
The place has potential, and with some changes could be quite nice. Presently, though it was not a horrible value for the time we were there, I suspect there are better ones available in Ayutthaya.More
