My husband and I visited this floating market and were horrified to see at least six beautiful tigers in a cage no bigger than 50 sq metres. One of the tiger's was pacing up and down continuously. The floor was concrete and the whole area was in a squalid condition. Do not visit this place and encourage this cruelty to these beautiful creatures. There was also a small pen with wooden planks containing sheep. It was overcrowded and the poor animals were in a terrible condition. Do not visit this attraction. The only way we are going to stop this cruelty, is to boycott it. DO NOT VISIT!

This attraction is walking distance from Baan Thai House where I was staying. It isn't very large and is all man-made. You can spend a pleasant hour walking around the stalls though I didn't spot any bargains. They also have the elephant village which does rides around the nearby temples. These were 1600 Baht for an hour or 1100 Baht for half an hour which I think is pretty expensive. There is also the Tiger attraction which I suspect is very unethical though I have to admit that I did succumb to 200 Baht's worth of photos with one of their Tigers. It is very much a daytime market so not much open before 10 a.m or after 5 p.m and I would not recommend a special trip out unless, like me you were staying at the Baan Thai House.

You can't compare the floating market in Ayothya to the floating market Damnoen saduak near Bangkok. The market isn't floating at all. The market is built above the water. You can rent a boat. The boattrip takes less than a quarter. After this trip you can take a walk and buy some souvernirs, clothes,
Outside the floating market there are some animals, But there isn't much to it. Nice to see if you are in the neighbourhood but don't have high expectations.

the market is OK. A bit of a tourist trap although there is some locals hangin around. The elephants, tigers and other animals kept there (elephants to make a ride) don't seem to be very happy about it and also don't seem to be kept in the best conditions, so we limited ourselves to visiting the market.

When we went there, the atmosphere was very relaxed and quiet. There were no actual vendors selling from their boats, but the shops on the side of the canal were nice. It is, however, far from any other tourist attractions.
