This home is so serene, beautiful and clean that I decided to extend my stay here. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Breakfast which is provided by the guesthouse is great too.

Beautiful traditional house in the quiet back streets of Ayutthaya and really close to the historic sites. The owners were lovely, and very helpful with information about the town and also recommended a great resturaunt on the river for dinner where we were the only Westeners, and it was the best meal we had while in Thailand. A great place to stay, with a home-stay feel, but the privacy of being in a hotel.

We stayed at the Luang Chumni Village for a few nights in March 2012. Booking was very easy and no deposit required. The room was very traditional Thai wood style. Very cozy and clean with all the modern amenities like a/c and tv.
Our room had a nice sitting area with retractable shades and a fridge for cold drinks etc. The bathroom was separated and underneath the room. This was not a problem in the slightest for us. Bathroom was large and clean.
The staff were really great. Very friendly and extremely helpful with our stay. We were even picked up on the side of the road miles from the guesthouse by one of the staff who saw us walking. She refused our offer of payment for the ride home.
Overall we are very happy with our stay and would recommend the Luang Chumni Village to anyone who is looking for a nice quiet place to stay in Ayutthaya. The location is prime as well. Close to the historical park and night market. Also I should mention we had no issues with mosquitos whatsoever despite the guest house being on top of a pond.
We plan on going back same time next year and will be staying with them again.

Perfect in so many ways! Beautiful cozy room, spotless bathrooms with everything you need, the best staff ever, and in the best place for visiting the historical park. This is the place to stay!
Solo travelers: it is expensive for a solo traveler, but totally worth it for a day or two of well deserve rest after walking Ayutthaya.

We had some bad weather in Ayutthaya, so it was a good thing we stayed here. We stayed in different rooms which had different prices.
The rooms are somewhat traditional Thai houses and everything is made of wood. Very Stylish en very clean. Big bathroom and a charming pond surrounding the property. Prices are very acceptable, friendly staff, cosy dining area.

4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2012

I stayed in Luang Chumni Village with my boyfriend for our stay one night in Ayutthaya on the last week of January 2012. It was a choice between Prom Tong Mansion and this lovely traditional Thai house.

Reservation was a breeze. They did not ask for a deposit because they said they would like to welcome their visitors as friends. We only had to confirm one week before. They also provided us a map with Thai instructions.

The minute we got off the train tuktuk drivers already approached us. It was pandemonium but we only paid 50BHT to take us to the village. Our driver knew what area it was in but was not really familiar where the exact gate was located. She dropped us off on the parallel street. I guess it needs a bigger signage the way Prom Tong promotes itself. We saw a big sign pointing to its direction on our way to Luang Chumni from the train.

Toh was the one who welcomed us. There were no welcome drinks and it was a very hot day. We sat at the lobby and she gave us a map on what we can do in Ayutthaya. It was perfect because we did not have any plans for the day.

It was a blessing that when we finally got inside our bedroom, there were two complimentary and very cold water bottles inside the fridge.

The bathroom, as mentioned, is not ensuite. You have to go down a few steps to have access to it. But it was private and it was a lovely, comfortably big bathroom with all the modern comforts. I just don’t recommend it with a person with disability.

We booked a boat tour with them for 200 BHT per head. A tuktuk picked us up from the village and we were joined by the other visitors of Prom Tong. However, since there were six of them and only two of us, they had a bigger boat and we had a smaller boat joined by another couple. We visited four temples and the highlight of the trip was the breathtaking sunset view at the Wat Chaiwatthanaram.

The tour ended in the night market where we ate the best dinner we had in our five day stay in Thailand.

Luang Chumni is walking distance from a 711 (but so is the rest of the guesthouses in Thailand). The towels looked new, fluffy and NOT disgustingly worn out.

As also mentioned, the walls are so thin that you can hear footsteps above you while you are in the bathroom or even the conversations outside the door.

However, the property is big. The room itself was cool because of the materials it was made of. It felt didn’t like a guesthouse, it felt like home.

In the morning, the stillness of the surrounding was a very nice contrast to the noise of Bangkok. The sunrise looked so good over the houses’ rooftops.

Breakfast composed of toast, seasonal fruits (in abandon), cereals, and spreads. It was more than enough especially since we only paid 800 BHT for our room.

...along came Luang Chumni!

Easily the best place I lived in in my entire trip, it has amazing and helpful owners, cute li'l moat complete with frogs and fishes, and rooms that will make you want to stay in the whole day!

As soon as we arrived, the owners sat us down with a map and listed all the interesting places and the order in which we can cover them. They even arranged good bicycles for us, and a decent boat tour to coincide with the sunset.

A must stay if you are headed to Ayutthaya!

Room Tip: Any room would do. Each of them is an experience in its own right!
