We booked Tony's Place online and told them that we would be arriving from Chiang Mai at 4am... would this be okay? They wrote back confirming and saying yes no problem. We arrived to a closed guesthouse, where even the toilets were locked. At 7am waitresses started serving breakfast, they told us we had to wait for someone to check out before we could have a room. This is a bit much considering we had already booked it and expected to be in it at 4am. By 8am, no sign of a room, and was sleeping on a chair in the breakfast area being bitten to death by mosquitos.
At 9am, we were very tired and had had enough, so we went to ask again and they said they cannot force people to leave until 11am, so we just have to wait. We explain that we said in the email we were coming at 4am and that would be fine. They say 'Well, you can leave if you like'. We go and sit down and they are pointing and laughing at us.
So we go down the road and find a lovely cheaper place called Mr A T Guesthouse. Don't go to Tony's, they don't deserve any custom.

Tony's place is cheap, and that's the only reason we stayed there. It has atmosphere, a decent restaurant, and slow wifi with poor coverage.

There were lots of mosquitoes in our bathroom and small black ants everywhere on the floor and the bed. Took three days to shake off all the ants from all over our luggage after we had checked out from Tony's place. Rooms are small, walls are paperthin and the bed is at best so-so. Bring a bed sheet or pay 50 BATH for one.

Next time, I'll pay a bit more and actually get a decent sleep.

My partner and I stayed at Tonys place in Ayutthaya whilst backpacking around thailand. It was a great guest house probably one of our favourites in our whole trip. The room we had was large for thailand standards and had aircon and clean bathroom.

The staff were really friendly andthe travel agency there is great. They booked us our transport to Chiang mai and a boat cruise around ayutthaya. Both were great. The staff were very welcoming and chatty. The bar and restraunt downstairs is brilliant. The food was good and well priced.

Ayutthaya was a great place to stop for a couple of days. We cycled around all the old ruins of the town and met quite a few other backpackers at tonys place. We also did the evening boat cruise which was a really great way to see the place.

Theres not much going on in the way of nightlife in Ayutthaya and tonys is a popular little bar with backpackers so probably your best bet for entertainment. However, Ayutthaya is probably just a little stop off not a long-term destination. Would definatly recommend this to other visitors.

reviews for this place had mostly been positive so we decided to stay there. our room had a couch in it and we noticed late in the night that it was infested with bed bugs. as far as we could tell they were only in the couch and not in the mattresses, as non of us noticed bites the next morning.

We had a hotel around the corner, and stayed there for 2 days. But everyday we went to tony's. The people are so friendly, it was the best place in thailand to be. We even rented a room because of the atmosphere. It is not the most clean place, but you have to looke further, and than you'll see it. To have a three star room where there is no spirit or staff whowill do the extra mile is not a nice way to start in Thailand. The staff at tony's are so great that every major hotel in the whole of thailand should go there to learn what hospitality in thai means. Go there, enjoy, and relax. Ans I have been to the best hotels in the whole off thailand. Tony's is the place to be. And that for only $12 a night for the major room. Great. Superbee
