Ranked #14 of 21 Hotels in Rameswaram

This is a little higher priced hotel in a small town; situated just opposite to main temple of rameswaram. you can have easy approach to amni darshan in the early morning; then to agniteertham , for sea bath, and then go for 21 well bath in the temple premises. Service is slow but rooms are specious and clean. You can have a very nice sea view from your hotel room. Just down on the road, all types of food, tea, purchases , travel agents are available. There is a public parking lot just besides the hotel and all 24 hrs cars will come and go with all types of honks- musical as well as loud blows.

Room Tip: take room away from parking lot side but sea view with balcony

The best part about the hotel is it's location. This hotel is situated just opposite to north entrance of the main temple (Ramanathaswamy temple). So, if you are going to do the proper rituals - take a dip in sea followed by bathing in all 21 teerthams (wells) of the temple, it would be very easy to go back to the hotel, change quickly into dry clothes and get back to the temple (as you cannot visit the main shrine in wet clothes)! We stayed in the Deluxe A/C dbl room, which has a small balcony overlooking the sea. The view from the balcony was awesome, sunrise and sunset was almost surreal! The room was quite big, with a big comfortable bed, proper bedsheets, pillows, blankets and a proper functioning A/C, TV and a wardrobe. The toilet was clean and spacious and water was clean. Towels and soaps were also given in the room, as we checked-in.

The bad part- Just next to the hotel is the public parking lot, where music (mostly kirtans and bhajans) are played 24X7 and at obnoxious volume! During the day, due to the hustle and bustle, you won't mind it. But at night, it is quite difficult to sleep even after closing all the windows and doors. The hotel doesn't have a parking of it's own. They ask you to park your car in the public parking lot. They reimburse the parking fees, but your car will be at risk of getting bumped by the innumerous yellow board taxis which park in & out throughout the day and night. And yes, the hotel boys / orderlies are quite unscrupulous. They expect a tip for anything. If they are not satisfied with the money, they would start taunting you. We noticed them doing that to some customers. We didn't take their help in moving our luggage from the room to our car at the time of leaving, still they asked us for tips. We just paid them in order to avoid any bad feelings or harassment!

For eating, the best option in this entire area is Gujrati Bhavan, if you prefer north indian veg food. Food is very tasty, portions are quite adequate and food is very hygienic. Only issue, due to the crowd, you might have some waiting time.

Room Tip: Deluxe Rooms with a balcony are good, but try to get a room towards the back where road noise doesn...

Last weekend we had been to Rameswaram with our family for three days and we booked "Sun rise view" based on TripAdvisor rating. Considering Rameswaram, a small town, Sun rise view was a good option though we felt tariff were relatively high for such a town.

Few points to favor:
Location - Just opposite to temple main entrance & very close to Agni Theertham (i.e. Sea). This quite important as one has to take bath in all holy Theerthams (22 inside the temple + in sea) and change the wet cloths before going for Darshan). As hotel was very close to temple without any fear we ladies alone went for early morning Spatika linga darshan @ 4.30 AM
Bigger rooms with good bath facility & hot water; Few rooms have good sea view
Access to sightseeing & shopping

Few points to be noted:
Rooms look cosy but actually not so clean (i saw dust in wardrobe & all furnitures)
Service is not so reliable (we booked for Jeep to visit Danushkodi @ 3 PM through reception in the noon but the front-desk staff did made proper arrangement so we ended up waiting for 1.30 hours in reception and at last cancelled the trip)
View from balcony was good (sea view), but just down was parking lot & toilets for drivers so i had to avoid using balcony.
No attached restaurant, so need to go out for food, though you can order through hotel staffs
Frequent power cut, so you may need to wait for a minute or two for the generators to be turned ON
No 24 hours checkout

Tips: Plan for Danushkodi Jeep trip around 3 or 3.30. Avoid taking food near east car street, very crowded, not clean & not so good. If you prefer good food head to west car street just 10 min walk, you will get good south Indian & Gujarati options.

Overall:
Hotel Sunrise view is a good option with its favorable location. You can listen to the sound of waves in calm night, Birds singing & chants from the temple in early morning will wake you for a great day. Just make sure to set your expectation little low as Rameswaram is a very small town.

Room Tip: ask for sea view room and avoid room #205 as drainage was leaking over the balcony

I have seen many hotels in this small town, but this hotel stands apart with relative comparison in terms of comfort. Although basic in amenities, this hotel had functioning A/C, average rooms, nice sea view balcony (which I had asked for) and a small but clean bathroom with slow but steady water supply. Food could be ordered though the hotel staff from nearby eateries, but you will have to tip them for that. Not great but standard south indian dishes are available. I usually went myself to get breakfast etc. For lunch and dinner, we used to go out there and have it. There is a Gujarati Samaj where you can get some good Gujarati food at reasonable price.
Room service is nothing to talk about much. Staff is also typical in their behavior and not that friendly.
Best part of the hotel is the view from balcony. Its a small balcony ( I think all double bed rooms has one) facing the sea, although you can only fit a single chair in it, but the view is really great, with the fishing village at sight along with all the fishing boats dancing in the waves. I have attached the pics.
Also, this hotel is very near to the temple entrance, and walkable distance to Agniteertham. Very nice location for performing rituals in the temple. You can also get auto rickshaws to go around the town from right in front of the hotel.
Overall if you are looking for a basic yet relatively comfortable stay in Rameswaram, then this one is the best option.

Room Tip: Double bed room are generally sea facing and has balcony. Ask the front desk if you wish to enjoy th...

One of our family member booked a suite for us in this hotel. As we entered at around 10 PM the room was cozy and cool. The two AC were working. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, bathroom ok. The temple is just few meters from the hotel. Also the sea is very very near. From our balcony we could have a very good view of the sea. The best part was that it is very near the temple and sea so very convenient if you are on a pilgrimage tour. In the morning at 3 AM you cannot miss the chanting from the temple to get up for the Mani Darshan.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with sea view

I along with my 2 friends visited this holly city in this month. We have stayed here for a day. The rooms are not great but average. View from the double bed room is good but from other rooms sorry. I consider if you keep your eyes open this could be a good option if not a great. The staffs will always asking for sum extra or tips and without paying them extra I am not sure if you will be able to get any service. Avoid to take PANDA or a vehicle from the hotel as they charge a too high for the same they offered us a PANDA who was asking Rs 2,500 and when I my self went to the temple I could arrange one in only Rs 300 Same applies in the case of Car also. The rooms are clean and specious but if you consider the degree of services and other options it is not a great choice but a good one.

Again, my high rating is predominantly based on the quality of accommodation available in this area. Rameshwaram is a small town located around the temple and Danushkodi. Is stayed here part of my Madurai-Rameshwaram-KK stretch. Most of the accommodation is pilgrim type so dont expect the best. I picked this hotel as it was 10 meters away from the temple entrance. The rooms and loos were clean. Rooms were roomy and comfortable. Service was courteous and prompt. It is a decent place to stay for a family. However, again a word of caution. Please scale down your expectations when you are travelling to small towns with few options. Sometimes these sort of places will give you the peace of mind and space. So the additional cost that you might perceive might just be worth it

PS- Try going to Danushkodi at dusk, it gives a surreal feeling. You might have pay extra to get the buggy to get over there. I and my friend had to pay 1600 Bucks to use the buggy exclusively. But totally worth it.
