The hotel is well constructed, but neglect in maintenance of small things leaves much to be desired. The lighting in the room was so inadequate that it was difficult to read which is my prime hobby to relax at such places. To compound the problem, three out of seven lights installed were not functioning. The sliding lock on the door from inside the room was broken and not repaired despite assurance. As rightly pointed out by someone else on this site, only luke warm water was running in taps. The bathroom fittings and fixtures were also in need of maintenance/repair. Furniture in the room also required minor repairs/maintenance. No fan has been installed in rooms and at times the temperature is not as cool as one would desire, which makes you miss cooling effect of a fan. I wanted a room with a view, however, after reaching Kodaikanal realised that there were hardly any hotels with a view other than that of the local market shops or surrounding residential areas. The service was prompt. The waiters only understand very little English and no Hindi, only Tamil. The buffet breakfast and dining included in room charges are well spread but have predominately south Indian dishes.Even North Indian dishes are also cooked in South Indian style. Management must think of providing better fare to guests from other places also and try to give chapati/parantha of whole wheat flour rather than refined flour(Maida). Staff was friendly and helping. Hotel is located about one Km from Lake, however, there are hardly any roads in Kodaikanal where one can go for leisurely walks. But for these minor issues, overall experience of saty was good.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor give you a better view and sense of more space

We statyed at JC Residency (Kodai) for 4 days in May 2012. There are lot of issues with basic amenities -
1. They claim that there is hot water supply in the morning and evening. But its luke warm which make sit very difficult to use the shower.
2. Most of the time, the tables at the restuarant are fille up and you end up waiting for a lot time outside their restuarant just for the table.
3. Food taste is not that gr8.
4. They claim that mineral water is complimentary everyday, but you will not get it untill you ask for it.
5. They do not server food in your room.

Hi this is deepa from bangalore stayed there for 2N3D ,i suggest you to confirm the booking directly with the hotel before you confirm the accomodation through any of the online websites like Travel Guru, Expedia,MMt etc.. why because i booked through one of the above website but when i went there hotel people said me that my booking was not confirmed. as i have reached Kodai in the morning i was safe but if the checkin is in the evening then it would have been a different situation. Somehow the hotel people have arranged me a same category room but beleive me the room was not clean as there were many houseflies in the room, i hope in allover kodai i was able to see them, even in other hotels outside also.so, that is a natural problem in kodai. But the ambience ,food, location of hotel is very good with a good 3* Amenities

I stayed with my family in April 2012. We rented two royal suits. There was a little delay in preparing the rooms due to certain maintenance activities but they gave us temporary rooms for the short period. Apart from that it was all very good. I found the staff very professional especially the restaurant staff. You can enjoy the complementary food if you have taste for south Indian dishes. We went for their night safari. Many thanks to the driver who took us to places where we could get a good look at the wild buffallows. Overall it was a good stay and value for money.

>>We took a Weekender package. There was some confusion while booking it online. So we had to book a Royal Suite room and pay the balance amount after reaching there. Though we were told it was updated to Weekender's package, we had to remind the staff that we have taken the package before we took any service like Bed Coffee/Tea, Fruits, Mineral Water, Food..
>>Make sure you confirm after booking and remind once you reach there as well about it.
>>Food can be rated as 3/5
>>The Royal suite room had a bed room with tv and panel heater, living room wit tv and bathroom. The panel heater was not at all efficient.
>>Because of the weather, room had a moist smell. We asked for Room Freshener which we never got.
>>The hotel is around 2.5 kms from bus stand. There is a hill behind the hotel. Its good to watch.
>>Inside the JC Residency, there is a small play area for kids and a lawn. They have had a small zoo there with Emu, some kind of fowls, duck. Its nice to watch them.
>>the package had sightseeing of around 10-15 places. But more could have been added. they had provided a private car. that was good.
>>The royal suite had 2 TVs. both were with reliance dish. it was not recharged when we went there. so they recharged one of them. so we had tv in the room working and not in the living room.
>> Though the surroundings of hotel is not so good, it is well maintained inside.A good place actually.
>> But overall a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: The rooms behind are much better. Though there is a sewage behind, it does not make that much differ...

We stayed for two day during April.2012 and had a very pleasant stay.
Food : Breakfast and dinner were complimentary and were great.Good spread of food
Stay : Nice ,spacious and comfy rooms with TV,hot water running and neatly maintained
Locations : Around 1.5-2KM from Kodai Lake ,much silent and initially was bit tough to locate .But reachable by all places.
Staff : Cordial and friendly.Served on time and helpful.
Parking: Ample parking space and no need to worry about parked vehicle since its is well inside the compounds
Verdict : Good budget and pleaseant stay.Certainly encourage ppl to stay here.Feels like a resort with all the facilities provided like children play area and some birds.

Room Tip: Higher floors have good view outside and more sunnier.
