I went to kodaikanal for anniversary but we had not booked any hotel as we wanted to check the rooms and hygiene before we booked one so we decided, I shall reach Kodai and then decide which hotel we want to stay in. WE saw 5-6 hotels, since it was Valentine weekend, most 5 star rated (read expensive) hotels were full. We saw some cheaper ones too, but they were either in the darker lanes down or the rooms weren't satisfactory or the people already occupying were terrifying. This one was next to the bus stand, has a dominoes on ground, a coffee day in next building and the lake is 5-10 minutes walk from there. We booked the honeymoon suite, it was nice, a big bed, a small sitting area near the door, a tub in bathroom and server hot water to drink.
Another factor to pick this place was there were lot of people inside, the hotel I must say is quite big, we saw a group of middle aged women staying, a group of college students visiting as well. Thus were sure about the place being decent, as a hotel that we saw seem deserted, had construction going on and, the special entrance it had to the cottage was scary..
They offer travel packages to visit the place in the day. On a little insisting, the manager also gave us some discount. ;)
Most of all I loved that we could walk around the place and never have to search for it as it was close to everything and in case we lost our way, we could take a taxi to bus stop and reach the hotel back.
The staff was polite, though we did not eat the hotel's restaurant, they did have a 24 hour restaurant.

This hotel is in the middle of the city but who cares? Do you ever go to Kodai for being in the middle of the poluted hustle bustle of the town or just away in a pristine valley? There is noting good to speak good about this hotel.

The hotel rooms were really horrible & probably were never cleaned in ages. The furnitures were old & were in the bad shape. The linens/clothes were not clean. The bath rooms were leaking & smelly. We changed the room after many complaints at the reception but that did not change anything. It was like going from fire to the frying pan. The hotel has got a restaurant called Annapurna but the food was not good at all. We had gone there once but then decided not to visit again. There are many decent eating places around the hotel on the road & we were out for food all the time. The hotel has a travel desk near the reception that helps guests to plan their local trips.

The staff at the reception were very rude & lacked basic decency to talk to guests. I would never stay in the hotel & would never recommend this to anyone visiting Kodai. There are many better places around.

HOTEL GOLDAN PARKS INN, KODAIKANAL
May, 2009

We were gone for the Kodaikanal, during our family South tour. We reached there at night and after searching many hotels which could provides us full comfort, peace and pleasant atmosphere. No one is matching our requirment as such but after so much of time spending we found HOTEL GOLDEN PARKS INN at the very nice location where we are satisfied with their tariff and hospitality. It's was like enjoying Kodaikanal with so comfort and pleasant weather like an delicious icecreame in the hot weather.

And as many people might have written before. It's is a place you would definitely come back to and recommend to your friends. Thank you very much for making our stay so pleasant!!!

We stayed in Kodaikanal for 2 days (one day is enough). The hotel isn't bad for 2 nights but for 1600 Rs we have stayed in better, cleaner and quieter hotels in more touristy places. The room is quite run-down and not superclean, bathroom is okay but the water is either icecold or either steaming hot. It's very noisy especially if you're surrounded by Indian young people partying and drinking all night in teh other rooms. Staff was friendly though and arranged for another room the next night. Room service is very good if you want nice meal.
But overall I wouldn't go back there.
