We have taken the taxi from Munnar to Kodaikanal, The road from Munnar to Kodaikanal was marvelous. The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. It was so lovely that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the hotel to go to the theme parks at all.
The only problem was their restaurant. We paid 3500 Rs. per night for a room on the club level which we thought excellent value.
Overall I would say this is probably the best hotel we have ever stayed.

Kodai is one of the most exotic places and also my favourite holiday destination. on reaching Kodai we zeroed in at hill country Resorts. The rooms were clean, the waiter were very responsive. The hotel is 6kms from the market place approximately. The view from my hotel room was excellent. It had a sprawling lawn. Good interiors & clean bathrooms. The view from the room was so good that i dragged a chair to the balcony and kept looking at those wonderful green hills covered with clouds. Only one con's of the hotel was that it did not provide any transportation facilities for site seeing..hence had to stroll in the town bargaining for a mini van. I was there for 4 days to celebrate New Year & i think its the perfect holiday destination just in case if you need to sit back and relax.

This place is one of the best places I've stayed in South India. Exceptional since this being a Club Mahindra Associate has acheived met all standards which are expected at an owned Club Mahindra property.
This location is abt 4 kms from the hustle bustle of Kodaikanal market place hence very quiet, calm and serene. The property is located on a hillside and has a beautiful landscaping taking full advantage of the hill slope. All rooms are spacious, airy and well ventilated.
The restaurant, to my surprise, was able to deliver excellent service (quality, taste, appeal) for Indian, Chinese and Continental cuisine. The restaurant captain, Padmanabhan is a jolly good fellow and ensures all guests are comfortable and takes pride and personal interest in adjusting the palate to the desired taste of each guest.
The travel desk is manned by another great guy, Raja who's tips on everything local are really valuable.

Hill Country is one of best option if you are planning a trip to Kodai. We had a nice reception on arrival. The package we went on was awesome. The rooms were clean and spacious. The hospitality at the resort is worth experiencing. It has a beautiful garden with a sprawling photogenic environment. The candle light dinner, sightseeing arrangements, Soukya health and fitness centre, Entertaining nights, etc are some of the highlights of Hill Country.

I took the Hotel based on my Travel Agents recommendation. The Hotel as such is at a good location and it has a good scenic view.

However, the rooms are Normal, you cannot grade them as 4*. When we checked in we were told they are running full and have only 1 room left. Even after mentioning that I booked it 1 week in advance with a superior room, the reception manager refused to give a good scenic view room and sent us to a room with 2 independent beds which was totally unacceptable as I was visiting with my wife and daughter. Even after me repeatedly telling them I booked a room with balcony and good view from my agent they argued and refused to give another one. Then after about 15 min of negotiations they shifted us to next room which had a King bed, however, no view or balcony what so ever. The reception staff is very uncooperative and adamant. Later I came to know that the entire block where we stayed was empty nobody came there for next 2 days. If fact they were creating artificial demand and pushing people to lower grade rooms. This is very bad way to treat guest at a so called 4* hotel.

The hotel restaurant was Good and Food was OK. Not so great, not bad either. The house keeping staff and restaurant staff were cool and very cooperative. Garden and children play area was maintained and was in a good condition.

The hotel is good. Location is quiet and scenic. Quality of service was good. Facilities can still be improved.
Hassle free experience. It is a quiet place to stay.

Transportation to the city can be an issue if you don't have your own vehicle. Rooms were not value for money. Regular suite rooms look like an economy room in a normal hotel. Regular Suite Rooms did not have heater - basic in a cold place. For packages which had complimentary breakfast and dinner, guests had to go to the restaurant to avail the same. The same delivered to room incurred 20 per cent service charge

Just returned from Kodaikanal after a mediocre experience at Hill Country resort. I picked it because of Tripadvisor reviews, but found it to be a bland, amateurishly run resort. It is listed as a Club Mahindra associate, but lacks the comfort and hospitality of most CM resorts I've stayed at.

When we walked in, the suite was unclean, the balcony unswept, with just two plastic chairs (also dirty). The interior is insipid - no pictures, cheap upholstery. And the fridge was full of green fungus!

The food at the restaurant is average, and only a couple of the waiters are friendly and helpful. Most nights there was not much on offer for the children (aged 6 and 4), and we had to order for them - they did not charge extra.

The location and landscaping are pleasing, but a lot more work needs to be done to the rooms and the food to make it worth the upscale price.
