We stayed here for 2 nights at the valley view room. The room is clean with fabulous view. The sunrise is fantastic and can be viewed from the room. However even though our room was more expensive the bathroom needs upgrading . Hot water was a problem in this rooms. I had the chance to view the standard room which was newer and cheaper. This room is much newer and better but without any view. The food is ok. I will definately stay here next time .

Rooms are good.. food is very tasty. If you are planning to go to Kodai then it should be Villa retreat!! It has an awesome view and its very near to the market area, croakers's walk and Byrant park. The best part is you can watch clouds pass by while having food.

Room Tip: All rooms are good..but the best one is with a valley view.

Beautiful gardens and comfortable rooms with magnificent views, good food, cozy fire on cool evenings, could hardly be better. I didn't like the fact that Internet was only available in the restaurant due to it turning into a tech fest in there rather than pleasant relaxed dining. The staff were more than eager to get feedback on checkout and seemed interested to know that this internet matter was a drawback for me so maybe they'll fix this and make this a six out of five hotel experience.

Room Tip: In winter, see if you can get a room that gets some sun so it warms up a bit for the very cool mount...

We stayed here for 3 nights and 4 days and quite enjoyed the place.
Went there just before Christmas and took a couple of rooms - A suite and a deluxe room.

A big plus point about this hotel is the location.. right on the Coakers walk entrance and walking distance from the city market, this place offers you the best of both worlds - beauty & convenience. Other things great about this place - fantastic food (easily the best food that we had in our 4 days stay in Kodai) and good, courteous service. The hotel also has a boutiquey feel to it which I found quite charming.
Some not so great things now - The hotel is quite small in area - not too much space for kids to run around. Having said that- its not really cramped either.
The rooms could do with better furnishing & appointment - the suite that we stayed (beside the kitchen) had old carpets and curtains, dismal lighting and small but important omissions like electric kettles, cups etc which will not go well with a frequent tea drinker like me.
Also, I found it a tad expensive for the facilities that they were providing.

Overall - I would recommend this place - but make sure you get the valley facing rooms (critically important to like the hotel).

Room Tip: The suites are good... The premium room facing the valley is equally good in terms of view DO NOT t...

We had booked Villa retreat for our honeymoon trip. Initially we did not have very high expectations, as Kodai is not that popular as a hill station, when compared to Ooty, Munnar etc. However, our apprehensions were all dispelled, as soon as we entered the property and were shown our room.

The view from the window was simply breathtaking. The hotel is located right next to Coaker's walk, which boasts of brilliant views of Kodai Valley. Staying in Villa retreat is like living on Coaker's walk itself. The view from the dining area is even more breathtaking, as you can simply watch clouds pass by while enjoying the food.

Food preparations were perfect, we ordered all cuisines and found them to be delicious, everything right from North Indian food to continental was cooked in the right way.

Special mention of the staff - Dina, Joseph and Murugan - they ensured that the experience right from the reservation till check out was absolutely professional as well as warm at the same time. Good Job guys!! :)

Room Tip: 1)Please book any classic room with Valley view - you will never regret it. Room no 108 is supposed...

Based on Trip Advisor reviews i had reserved 3 deluxe double rooms for a family visit to Kodaikanal in Jan'14.And staying there i think i did the right thing.Otherwise i could have missed many things !! It is a very enchanting place just beside the north gate of famous Coakers' Walk. You can have the beautiful valley views from your window in classic rooms and can stay hours inside. The beautiful garden near dinning place and the superb views from here can inspire the author in you for a sweet travelogue about Kodai. Bryant park just in front over the road, the star shaped lake ,the downtown are within walking distance. Kodai does not have auto rickshaws and famous for walking to enjoy the nature. And what could have been a better place than Villa Retreat? The staff is very friendly and create a cordial atmosphere. The food is excellent.Really our stay was very enjoyable. My special thanks to Mr Javed, Mr Dina,Mr.Joseph,
Mr Murli.I would like to stay here again in Dec '14.

Room Tip: Room no 108 is the best room for Valley Views.
