Located right next to Coaker's Walk and Bryant Park, and the lake is a 5 minute downhill walk. Beautiful location from every room, scenic views on all sides, and a very colonial theme to the place.

It gets cold in Kodai, so you might want to request a heater to make your stay more pleasant.

You can sit at the cafe, centrally located, and enjoy the breath-taking view of the hills and valleys, sunsets and sunrises.

The rooms were cozy, done up in stone and wood for a comforting feel way up high in the mountains.

My husband and I had a very pleasant stay in Villa Retreat. This was our second visit to this hotel and we were happy to see the standards maintained, infact improved over time. Hospitality is great. Food is good and clean. We especially like the breakfast. I love the continental breakfast and would want them to continue it. We had driven from Bangalore to Kodaikanal, and explored places around Kodaikanal on our own - Mr. Jawed, from Villa Retreat was a great help in this regard with his tips and information. We were in one of the cottages and the experience was unique - with cozy, clean rooms and a wonderful view. We loved the concept of the cottage - it was cozy - a bedroom with attached bathroom and a sitting room with a view of the lawn and beyond. Perfect !This place also has a view of Coacker's Walk. One could just sit around in the lawn, have breakfast there, read a book - it's idyllic. It is quite unbelievable that inspite of being so close to one of the busiest places - Coacker's Walk, Villa retreat has managed to remain surpisingly serene. The moment we walked into Villa Retreat, we seemed to be transported to a different place altogether - it has an old world charm to it - and we are in love with this place. Infact, the little touches, in this aesthically designed place, adds immensely to it's old world charm - colourful flowers tastefully arranged, an ivy covered wall, a nicely maintained lawn, the benches in the lawn - it just seems to have anticipated what we wanted. We found this trip and our stay in Villa Retreat therapeutic - it's a charming and peaceful place - far removed from the madding crowd. We would go back again and stay right there is the same cottage. I would also like to mention that I had come back to Bangalore and left my Driving License at the Hotel check in desk (forgotten to collect it after we checked in), Mr. Jawed called me up later and got it couriered back to me. I really appreciate that. Overall, we had a great experience and would recommend it to our friends. The name of this place is apt to the experience it gave us - that of a Villa, where you retreat for a little tranquility !

First the highs,

Villa Retreat is the best place to stay at Kodaikanal. The location is excellent. Right next to Coakers walk, it is very near to the Kodai lake. The views are awesome. The thing I liked the most was the open dining area at the back with the valley view.

We had booked the family suite, which had two bedrooms along with a drawing-dining area. We loved it. It was clean and very spacious.

We also spotted a wild bison behind the dining area.

Now the lows,

The hotel charges for the room heaters/blowers. Not something you expect at a cold place.
It took a hell lot of time for the food to arrive every time we ordered. Better to order lunch/dinner at least 1 hour in advance.
The recreation area was hopeless.

Room Tip: Choose rooms with the valley view.

After looking for a number of resorts, i was very much satisfied for selecting Villa Retreat for my Honeymoon when i reached there. The resort is very excellent, in the terms of service or even for its location. The rooms have nice valley view and the maintainance of resort is also surprising. They take special care of us, I would like to thanks Mr. Javeed,Mr Saif for his attention and care ,Mr. Satish served as very well & also the driver Jaypal was very nice,he tooks many photographs of us in journey. I would highly recommend Villa Retreat to everyone visiting Kodaikanal. Most of all i was also surprised by the quality of food,it was very delicious.Candle light dinner & Room decoration arranged by Mr. Javeed was very nice.Overall it was a very satisfying experience visiting Kodaikanal & Villa Retreat.

Room Tip: Semi Classic room 104 is nice for Couples with Valley view.

Me and my wife stayed in villa retreat in the last week of december 12... we thoroughly enjoyed the stay in villa.. it was a memorable stay... i like the dining area with lawn and valley view.. u can enjoy having a cup of tea amidst foggy mountains and beautiful valley.. food was very tasty and quality compared to best vegetarian hotel in chennai(dosa and french toast are too good).. rooms with valley view are good, though small in size.. reception desk staffs mr amarnath, saif, javed are very helpful.. mr amarnath helped us in arranging our sight seeing trip.. they have a tie up with travellers inn and they have good tour guides - stefen(spicialist in taking photos and adventurous guy), murugesan... i would suggest anyone to go for packages they offer.
few points for improvement: they can keep bath tub and should not charge for room heater
i will come with my family to villa in future visits too... overall villa is very close to nature...

Room Tip: choose a room with a valley view... no 105,104 are good... lounge is very good with clean toilets an...

On my first trip to Kodai, selecting Villa retreat was the best decision. The location is excellent - next to coakers walk. The view from the hotel is the same as that of Coakers walk. Byrants park is across the road and the lake a short walk away. The Deluxe suite was a bit small for a suite and the lighting could have been better, the rooms were well kept, spotlessly clean and overlooking the valley. The food was excellent, right priced and the service prompt.

We were apprehensive given that the standard room didn't have a view, but were impressed with the customer centricity of the staff. Each of our requests was met immediately, rooms were excellent with good space and clean. The hotel is in a prime spot with closeness to Coakers walk, the lake and Bryant park. Other locations are within easy reach too.

Room Tip: Go for the deluxe rooms or higher. Standard rooms are good but not exceptional.
