In a short sentence an amazing experience.

Positives

1) Excellent Food (Amazing Choices and Spread)
2) Amazing Staff
3) Breath taking location
4) Peace and surroundings at its best
The Hotel was located in a good place and ambience was wonderful. Staff was kind enough, the best example they changed our room TV at once we requested. Complimentary breakfast was fine Al-carte lunch and dinner which you have to pay had enough items in the menu to choose.
The Greenery surroundings and place without any disturbance. Those who need to stay in the room and spend holidays that is the best place
As we stayed with friends to spend some leisure time we felt the resort was good
We stayed in a private dormitory kind of room which still need to kept clean , pillow covers and bed spread were not clean. House Keeping can be improved. Mr. Ali working there was so kind enough to serve us for our needs.

Hi Guys,

This was an excellent choice that I made for my Honeymoon by opting Lilly's Valley Resort-Royal Honeymoon Suite. We are from Bangalore and got our wed lock on 3rd May 2013. We had done an exhaustive research on honeymoon spots and had opted the South Indian spots over North Indian due to time constrains.

Lilly's Valley established in 1982, stands up to the mark when it comes to service and excellent staff who are really good and professionals. We started our honeymoon trip just by going through the internet resources and reviews done by people in past. We weren't certain as to how it would be. But when we reached the spot, Kodaikanal, the city by itself was welcoming :) The cab was sent for pickup as soon as we reached from the resort staff and we were picked up. Even though the check in time was a little late, the staff were good enough to provide us the suite as we reached, which was a good thing. We had tea and started our day by getting fresh. As we had breakfast, aq cab was arranged for a day's trip already ! :) The driver got us through 5-6 spots in day 1 itself even though the time was very limited and we enjoyed each and every part of it :) Coakers walk, pillar rock, 500yrs old tree, wax museum, devils kitchen, Greens valley view-these were all covered and were a worth enjoying the beauty one after the other :) We couldn't make it to the lake in evening since we were already tired by all these :P Lol! We reached resort back by evening tea t8ime and hot cup of tea was served in the cold weather which was amazing! Dinner was provided at night and was good enough to taste. We then went to sleep recollecting the good times we had for the day! :)

Day-2, again, we had breakfast and the cab was already ready for pickup for the trip. We covered the rest of places, Bryant park, dolphins nose, dolmen circle and and the end of the day ended up with Kodai lake. Kodai lake is one of the favorite hot spots for couples and we can spend as much time as we like since the weather over there is something different and nice. We enjoyed peddle boating, horse riding and cycle riding as well :P :D which was so much of fun filled! We went for shopping around the place and don't ask, the prices are way too high and people are so much involved in making the travelers life miserable even for a bottle of drinking water. even though the normal drinking water(packaged-branded) was priced Rs.18 for 1ltr, the Kodaikanal Boating terminal charges you a whooping Rs.25 and when asked why so much of a difference, its either a take it or leave it attire that they posses, which makes you not so happy. Even the stores there price so much for 95% of their goods from once store to another, you hardly can buy something that you can keep something for a sweet n memory. Anyways, we ended up reaching the resort back again and halted after a good dinner. We enjoyed the camp fire which was put up by the resort staff for these two days after our dinner though :)

Day-3, since we had taken a 3 day honeymoon suite package, it was just for parches that we had to go for. So we were a bit lazy that day :P so got ready late and left the resort in cab by 12pm. Reached the Bryant park again and did some shopping. And not to forget, we were a bit choosy during that time since the prices that were tagged weren't looking worth at all for most of the goods. Even a small cone of bhel puri by the cart would cost you 30bucks against 10-15bucks in Bangalore!lol! so you an imagine the rest..! Anyways, we again spent the time in the park and lakeside and also bought home made chocolates(which was again a bargain done :P). haha! Cab was arranged by evening and we reached resort. Had hot cup of tea and spent time enjoying the snaps we captured. A special candle light dinner was arranged by the resort on the night for us. So we got ready and had a good time again at the dinner. We spent time roaming around the resort at the night and enjoyed the cold climate at that time. :)

Day-4,our check out from the resort. We had a check out time of 9:30 in morning as per the package we took. But no buses would be available for us for day journey back to Bangalore. The resort staff were good enough to provide us a refreshment room for few hours until we boarded our bus :) So we went out for Kurunji temple and Chettiyar park which was a 2kms walk from the resort. We spent the time at these two places and returned back after lunch at a small hotel there. We took rest until 4-5in evening and cab was arranged for our drop to bus stand. Home made chocolates were given to us by the resort staff at the time of leaving.

Overall, I enjoyed every moment of time spent there away from work schedules and honeymoon being one of the best times in your life you can remember for ever! :) Thanks to all the staff of Lilly Vally-Mr. Sridhar, Mr. Daniel,John,Arun,Thannivel and all others which made our stay homely feel :) I would recommend this to couples if the are preferring a calm stay at this place ahead :) cheers and kudos :)

Regards,
Ravi and Veena-Bangalore.

I must start saying that my trip to kodaikanal was planned at the last minute and tripadvisor.com helped me in finding this gem of a place. This was an weekend outing with family and we werent very keen on sight seeing and wanted a pleasant stay away from commotion. I would say this place was perfect for my needs. This place has got a lot of greenery with lots of open spaces. Since my booking was made in last minute we werent able to stay in de same room for consecutive days. So i was able to experience all those kinds of room on offer. I would recommend getting the royal suite. Food was simple and good. Some rooms are a bit old and in need of renovation. But the standout feature is their service. Despite all their limitations they try their best to listen to our feedback and work on it to make our stay comfortable. A special mention to Mr.Sridhar, one of the managers, who made our holidays there memorable. This is more like homestay kind of place so people expecting a fancy resort should look elsewhere or else they will in for a disappointment.

We stayed in the Royal Honeymoon Suite. Though the name suggests that the room / package is for honeymooners, it was a regular stay more suitable for family.

The room was just about the right size, though would have liked a bigger one. The room had wooden flooring which was perfect in the cold climate. The rooms could do with some face lifting especially the interiors. They still have the old picture-tube, 21" TV. The bed was queen size as against the king size we were expecting. A big surprise was there was no ventilation in the main room. So we were a little worried about air circulation - not that we had any problems with it, but nevertheless a point to note.

The bathroom was plain ordinary inspite there being a bath tub. I would have liked it to be a tad roomier and definitely brighter. But there was a responsive geyser which gave hot water in a matter of minutes.

The food was good, but we being vegetarian did not have many options. It was almost the same menu for the 2 nights we stayed. Thing to note here is, they ask for the dinner order at 5 PM in the evening, so you will have to plan well ahead for dinner - a bit of inconvenience. But the food was served on time and it was hot and fresh.

The package was good overall - we had a picnic on the first day and a valley tour on the second day. We had a car to ourselves and could spend good time at all the picnic spots. The driver was a local and knowledgeable about the history of the places and Kodai in general.

Overall a pleasant stay and a much needed break from routine.

Room Tip: Biggest tip - Stay only in the suites here. Do not book lesser rooms, there is a HUGE difference in...

First let me start with some constructive criticism
We stayed in the 'standard family cottage'. While it was ok, it was a little bit more 'basic' than I expected, especially the bathrooms. Bathrooms could use a bit of renovation. Not a bad room if you have more people, but it was just that I was expecting something a bit nicer. I could not tell clearly from the photos on the website what the room interior is like. When you go to the 'Cottages' section of the website, it only has 'family cottage (with fireplace). So would be nice if each cottage has pics of all the rooms on the website [including the pics of restrooms]. For example I did not know this room did not have showers. If I had a clearer idea, I would have booked two royal family suites instead.
Having said that, it's down below the main reception area. So it's more peaceful than the rooms near the main area. I liked the front area of the cottage. Great for relaxing.
We were shown the royal family suites on the last day and they were very nice.

The location was nice a bit away from the crowds which was nice. Nice landscaped grounds with flowers and bird songs.

The service was excellent. Very friendly and courteous staff. Very pleasant to deal with, Room service was prompt. They provided everything that we asked for without any questions. Ruben and co made sure our stay was as pleasant as possible. Ali and Vijay were very professional and took care of our every need.
The main thing that impressed us was the staff and service here. That made up for other things...
So our room [talking only about the standard family cottage] gets 3 stars and the service gets 5 stars :)

Thanks to lilly Mgmt for their nice accommodation.

Recently, We stayed in Royal suite 3 nights, 4 days which made me comfortable stay with homely food. i felt like staying with nature the way they have formed the resort is amazing. The innovation they do in the resort it makes me feel that they do spend decent time to care about guest's happiness.

i am the one frequent guest for lillys valley and strongly recommend this for any one who is from middle class wants to be in luxury stay can prefer this.

The service is also really good, i was just amazed with candle dinner what they have arranged for me.

Lilly’s Valley is a uniquely beautiful resort set amid terraced gardens on three acres of wooded land, ringed by towering eucalyptus trees. Its 21 traditional stone cottages are constructed in the colonial British style, with handcrafted woodwork details throughout. It is the rare resort with an eco-focus and no concrete structures: even the furniture is lovingly made by hand by talented craftsmen! Built in 1982, Lilly’s Valley was the first resort in Kodaikanal. Our stone-and-wood cottages, both free-standing and attached, can accommodate couples, small and large family groups, students, and corporate groups. We are located in a quiet suburban neighborhood exactly 2 km from the center of town and the lake. With a short taxi ride or 15-minute walk, you’ll be in the heart of shopping, boating, horse-riding, roller-skating and other tourist attractions. Our style is low-key and customized to you: you can order simple, tasty Western and South Indian dishes from the kitchen, and hold gatherings in the garden gazebo with your own music and programs. We’ll even arrange a cozy night bonfire! We have special rates for long-term stays of one week or more, up to a 50% discount. Discounts are also available for weekdays. Many repeat customers, both Indian and foreign, have been coming here for decades, drawn back by the beauty, peacefulness, and cozy cottages.
