“Good hotel, great staffs”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 20, 2008

Good hotel , walkable distance from major places. Great food and staffs, I was amazed by the previous reviews.May be this is new staff crew. Got complimentary free food, which was amazing. Room service was prompt. Hotel is a little old, but a great place to go for young couples and nuclear families .

I have been to this place few times in the last few years. Of late everything has gone from bad to worse. First the staff is not courteous. The feeling is that, they are doing the guests a favor by accommodating them in their hotel. Room tariff most expensive in that class of hotels. Check-out time strictly followed to the minuite.Food less said the better. Most of the items on the menu are invariably not available. Thanks to them, it makes you search for good restaurants, and you end-up finding better once .Leaky roofs. It’s one of the oldest buildings in Kodai. French windows seldom close. One need'nt be surprised to see grass hopper's or insects at the corners of the room. Apart from the dampness & stink in the rooms. Mattresses and pillows would definitely pass-off as antiques than the furniture’s around. News paper would reach by lunch time after much follow-up. bed spreads have turned to cream color instead of white. So coming to the best part: Good Location, View, proximity, greenery,

We have visited as a group of 3 families and to our shock we came to know that the booking is not confirmed even after sent the money 10 days in advance by way of bank transfer.

We were asked to wait for 4 hrs in the lobby before we were shown one smelly room.

My friends's kids doesn;t want to enter the room because of the worst smell. Later they sprayed some perfume and some other chemical cleaning but still it was stinking.

The food over there is horrible. We always went outside except the firstday - when we are not aware of this.

The play area for kids is nicely located by no good equipments. All of them are old. These hotel guys have some ducks these will [--] all over the places in the lawn.

Parking is another headache here... no place to park the vehicle.

After second day we vacated and shifted to another hotel near by for the next 3 days.

Its a complete waste of money. Its kind a of money thrown into a drain.

The hotel ambience is very bad. It always stinks..
The furnitures, bed spreads and blankets are very very old.

Moreover the hotel perssonnel are very rude.

The food they serve is horrible and of very high price.
Most of the time they served half cooked food.

Their local transport desk is still horrible. They get some money from you for local sight seeing..But the guide who is allotted will not show you all the places mentioned in their travel schedule. He demands more money they what is prescribed for him.

Altogether it was a worst stay for us with Kodai Resort. There are lot of other good hotels in Kodaikanal which you can opt for to have a better stay.

I went to Kodai Resorts last week.
Here is my feedback.
LOcation of these resorts is excellent. Very near to lake, Bryant Park and crokers walk.
But these cottages are very old. All furniture is may be more than 20 years old.
Staff are rude. They won't listen to you.
They will show you only one room and you have to take that. If we ask for some other cottage which is having good view, they will say that they are all occupied. But after staying there for 2 days, I found most of them are empty.
ANother worst part of it is their restaurant. It's Very costly and very less quantity and poor quality. Most of the time it is empty. You will find more number of servers than customers. But it has a very good view. This restaurant is good only if you care more about your surroundings more than your food.
It's very difficult to identify the actors in their cable TV. Quality of transmission is very poor. When I complained about it, they said it's cable fault and they can not do anything about it.
Another good thing about it is their 24 hours HOT water fecility. I think all the hotels in Kodaikanal will provide this.
Room serice is quick as they don't have anyone to serve in the restaurant. But they will disturb you in uneven times (after 10pm).
Garden is good but it smells bad when you sit there as they have kept a drainage in one corner of it.
If you ask for internet browsing fecility, they will always say that "connection went off just now."
I won't suggest this to anyone as there are more negatives and I had very worst experience with them.
