“Still its the same hospitality”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 2, 2013

I visited Mount Pleasant resort again along with my sisters family on October 2nd. We were happy to experience the same hospitality we had last time. My sister was so satisifed that she recommended it to her friends and my brother in laws colleagues. The taste of the food has only improved and one cant resist it. Mr.Najmal is known for his hospitality and so his brother and family. They will make u feel at home. He has promised me that by the next time I visit he will have credit card facility and additional stoves in the kitchen to serve fast. Hope its ready now. My wife and children are very keen to stay here only when ever we visit Kodai. Visit Mount Pleasant and you fill know the hospitality, stay there and you will feel and experience hospitality with personal care. Very tasty food which one must not miss at kodai.

Very nice & memorable stay, view was very scenic & beautiful. Ambience was really good you will feel like home there, hospitality was great. It truly justifies its name 'PLEASANT". Owner was really nice & was serving food on his own which is very rare to see, We booked Prime Suite which was really awesome & comfy.

Stayed here for four nights towards the end of 2012. Was looking for a place where I could switch off the office and unwind, and Mount Pleasant delivered in style.

Right from the booking process onwards, we felt we were speaking to friends, and not another commercial establishment. Mr. Nitin responded to my emails with a phone call, and the booking was done just like that. No insistence on an advance payment to guarantee the room - they were happy to hold the room on our word.

The home-stay itself is located a bit off the beaten track, about 3 km past Kodai town. It's an absolutely tranquil place ... to the extent that some of the rooms don't even get a mobile signal (which suited me just fine)! There is enough space to park about 6 cars, and the home-stay itself has about a dozen rooms of various sizes. We booked a "Presidential Suite", which was substantial in size, to say the least. It did get cold at night (so ask for a heater if that is likely to be bothersome). No problems with getting hot water, though, and the room and bathroom were very clean indeed.

The food sets this place apart - simple, home cooked fare, and served with utmost solicitousness. Mrs. and Mr. Nitin, and Mr. Najmal had no problem adapting to our kids' occasional finickiness. We chose to have dinner there every day (breakfast is included in the room tariff) - and at the end of our stay, were very pleasantly surprised by how reasonably we were charged for the food.

The property itself is compact - if you're looking for a game of cricket outdoors with your family, then that's not easy to manage. However, indoor cricket in the large common room in the basement is definitely on! There is a small play area outdoors for children, too.

Overall, would have no hesitation in recommending this place; and this will certainly be our first choice for a place to stay whenever we visit Kodai.

I stayed at this b&b in the prime suite for two days in the 3rd week of Jan and it was quite a memorable stay . The rooms are tastefully decorated and the home-cooked food was some of the best I have ever tasted. The hospitality extended by Mr. Nitin is something you can never get in any other place. The fact that this place has reached the top in just 6 months from its opening is a testament to that. I would highly recommend this place for anyone vacationing in kodaikanal.

We have visited Kodaikanal ,in the past on numeroaus occasions. But stay at the Mount pleasant is certainly stood above all and we were really thrilled at the hospitality and they way they treated us ,especially Mr.Najamal ,Mr.and Mrs.Nitin we felt we were always at home. We stayed there from 21st jan to 25th jan and all the 5 days we stayed , food was excellent if you could ask me if there is any rating beyond 5STAR , we would give that. In fact for us ,if we say kodaikanal , the first thing in mind will come for us is Mount pleasant.

Fantabulous. Some of our so called 3*-4* properties can learn from this heavenly resort. Well appointed and tastefully done up rooms. Attention to detail and thoughtfully designed property. Everything was just WOW. I was on a South-India road trip from Delhi covering 9500kms and this was by far the best place I had checked into amongst the numerous hotels/guesthouses we had seen and stayed at before and after. We arrived in Kodaikanal quite late in the evening just after the New Year rush on the 1st of January '13. We had checked out quite a few hotels around the lake and most of them were still dirty and smelly from the New Year guests who must have checked out during the day. Most of the hoteliers were still counting their money and hung-over :-) The hotels did not seem interested in taking in any new guests. Thanks to Tripadvisor, we found 'Mount Pleasant Boutique Resort' and we were welcomed by clean, cosy and comfortable rooms. Our plan was to move on to Kanyakumari the next day, but the place was so cosy and comfy that we ended up staying one more day. Our host and his wife were very warm and friendly. Our host made sure that all our needs were taken care of and we were not rushed in any way. He made us feel at home. Thank you Sir for your hospitality and kindness. This place is brilliant for long-term overseas visitors, as it is away from the crowded properties along the lake. No honking, no people, no shops, no loud noises, no loud music, no barking dogs, no hawkers. I could spend a couple of months here in the peace and quiet. Good place to relax and rejuvenate for city folks. Surrounded by trees all around. If you are lucky, you might see a few Bisons. We were very lucky to see a small herd of Bisons on our way to Berijam lake. It is short walk to the lake and main market from this place. The Observatory and Horticultural Research Station (large variety of herbs/flowers) are a short trek away. But if you are not the walking kinds and need to have everything close by, you might want to stick to the hotels around the lake. The 2 helper boys were very helpful and setup a nice little bonfire in the rear garden on our last night. The cook prepared lovely home meals. We stuffed ourselves with the super-tasty Idlis. I cannot think of a single negative thing. Genuinely impressed. Highly recommended. Hope to come back soon.

Room Tip: All of them are nice. Duplex room recommended for families with kids and families wishing to stay in...

One of the best home stay we have stayed. From the time of booking, food the comfort and value for money all in the highest standard. It is truly a home away from home. This just matches the beautiful surrounding and the beautiful people manages this property. Keep it up.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms in 1st floor if you have elderly persons with you
