We were 3 adults and a 4 years old child trying to escape from the heat in chennai. We are Danes, but currently living and working in Chennai.
The Fern Creek is a remarkable place and I am running short of words, the tents, garden, service and everything else come together as a fantastic and relaxing experience.
The nature and in general the suroundings are fantastic for walks, trekking or simply just to enjoy the clam and nice weather.
One thing that we will never forget about this place was the service and the desire to make our stay as special as possible, the entire crew was doing there outmost to serve, help and advice us.
A special thanks to the manager Anbu and his staff, you are doing a great job and we will recommend you to anyone we talk to that would like to visit a hillstation.
The food is delicious south Indian inspired, some spicy some not and a fine mix between Veg and Non Veg.
The tents are nicely situated arround the garden and there is plenty of space, they can though be a bit cold during night time so remember some extra close for the little once.
There is different activities in garden and a fire place which is really cosy in the evenings.
All in all a splended place, with great food, fantastic staff and superior location, we will for sure be back.
All the Best

My sons and I spent three nights at the ferncreek last week. We had chosen the resort based on the reviews on trip advisor and to say the place was much better than what we expected.

The whole property is surrounded by British Styled gardens and gives a sense of Being In England. There are 7 well apointed Luxury tents and the amenties inside or on par with any top international resorts. The bed was so comfortable and the there were ample sockets for your plug points as well. The bathroom was very well done and had grohe fittings for the discerning traveller and very well thought about.
It would have been nice if there was a safety box in the room.

There are two old Bungalows and one is converted into the reception and dining area and the other was converted into a entertainment room with a mini home theatre with good choice of DVDs and as well as the carrom room.

Now for the service.Anbu and team including Bala, Ishwar, manikandan took very good care of us. Whatever we wanted was preapared and we had the choice to dine in or sit outside in the lawn to eat.

Chef Bala was par excellence and churned out the best continentatl food we had .Be it the Pancakes and French toast for breakfast or the more experimental Lasagne or Moussaka. The Grilled chiken with the suce was excellent so was the batter fried fish with lemon sauce. Each menu was prepared after listening to our requests.

There are many places in the property where you can relax and read a book or just listen to music. Or if you want to be in the room then there is the Tata sky to entertain you.

There wasnt anything to complain about the place and everything was par excellence.
I would defenitely want to stay here whenever I visit Kodai and would recommend my friends and family as well..

Room Tip: The honeymoon suite is Big and recommended

I did stay at this place along with my family during first week of May.. The only reason why i chose this place was because of the ratings given in TripAdvisor. My expectations based on the feedback were very high and i should say that i am not completely satisfied. The place as well as the tent is beautiful.
Few drawbacks..
The tent is very small and can hardly accommodate 2 adults and 1 kid.
The facilities like tea table, hammock etc. are only available near few tents and if you have got the odd one (I got it) you will be in a corner with less accessibility to these places.
The staff is courteous food is tasty but the menu is fixed.
Even though they claim the lunch and breakfast as buffet it’s on their mercy. Vegetarians have very little option for lunch.
We had few guest too in our tent (cockroaches) if you are really close to the nature you can stop that..
Few other glitches my fire pot was not working from 3:00am and hence it was really cold inside.
Geyser only provides hot water for a person’s shower and others have to wait at least 20 minutes to take bath.

Dear sir

We thank you for taking time out to write this review.

We are surprised by the issues pointed out by you as most of them are 'first time' for us:

a) fixed menu at the mercy of staff - we normally make any fair modification/changes to the menu the guest so wishes to have

b) non working of heater after 3 am - ( we have 100% standbys for all tents) ready to be given in case of issues, brought to our notice

c) Size of the tent is 'hardly' enough for 2 adults & 1 child - 6.5ft x 7ft bed not including the single sofa in a bedroom of 196 sq ft is what we have always provided to all guests as a standard

d) The water heater is enough for 1 person and takes 20 mins for the second person - being an eco friendly resort we have choosen not to use the centralized heaters due to excessive consumption of electricity (a scarce commodity in Kodaikanal) or fire wood, we mention this to all guests at the time of check in

e) Other 'guests' cockroaches in the tent - again a first time complaint, we have always done pest control every week & our house keeping team is well trained to constantly keep an eye on the vulnerable points

None of the above is a justification for the points raised by you, we sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused and assure you that we will surely take every point seriously.

As a work culture our staff are trained to never say 'No' to a guest for anything even remotely possible provided its brought to our notice.

Once again on behalf of the Fern Creek team I thank you for taking the time to write this review and we look forward to your continued patronage.

Thanks & Regds

We had a 3 night stay in this beautiful place and it was one of our most memorable trips. The tents were wonderfully located in midst of garden. Each tent has its own privacy and well furnished. The rooms are very comfortable with cozy bed, wonderful heater, excellent interiors, nice lighting work and TV with Tata sky connection. The bath place is also well spacious with all the luxury amenities.

The best thing about the hotel is their priceless hospitality. Anbu and his team members made sure that each of our needs were satisfied. They arranged for bon fire even though it was raining regularly. When there was a power problem, they just helped us out within 5 mins. Food was just extraordinarily delicious. They serve a variety of dishes both north and south indian. Each and every item we ordered for the 3 days were excellent and would suggest all to try all the varities.

The recreation room is another good place to spend time. They have a mini home theatre arranged there with around 50 blue ray discs. They also have a carrom room. Again other than the stay and food, you could also enjoy their beautiful well decorated garden. I would recommend everyone to definitely visit this place for their hospitality, food, location and the wondeful tent house.

Positives:
- Excellent service in the Restaraunt - 5 Star !
- Tents are very nice and cozy

Negatives:
- The food quality was average. No international choices in the menu - like Pasta, noodels etc.
- The room was not serviced/beds not made etc even though we were out the whole day. The manager told us later that we should have asked for rooms to be cleaned and should have given room key at front desk for servicing rooms.
- There are no area maps at the hotel. The hotel staff were not able to properly guide us on what to do during our stay at Kodaikanal.

Room Tip: Do not go for All meals plan here - not worth it !

Me and my wife stayed @ the fern creek in the first week of March. And we totally experienced the great hospitality by the entire team. Starting from the begining till the time of check out we were tottaly taken care with love and affection. We felt as if we were in our relatives house. Not a single complaint to be told. If you are bored in watching the TV @ the room...go to the cosy recreation room to watch a hollywood movie. You forget the world once you enter the room.
The food - delicious. We had never ever had such a delicious food. The tent awesome finishing. Each and every part of if was tastefully done. The total experience can't be expalined by this review. Stop stop stop...... go online..Type-'www.theferncreek.com' reserve a room. Stay atleast for 1 night and then you will know the hospitality of the team. And there is a great hardwork hiding under the word - Best Hospitality.... All the best Team. Continue the same effort..

What a great place to stay! The tents are very nice, the garden around it great for the kids. Service was very good, and so much tasty food! Am recommending this place to everyone.
Only tiny negative point, it was very cold when we where there, blankets should be thicker and bigger (they only just covered the bed, nothing extra).
