Warm and truly a "home stay" I stayed for a day with my teenage son and my mother and Bala and Vasu had each of us equally floored The room was clean and tastefully done. TV and cable helped keep my son entertained on a cold and wet October day The bathroom had fresh towels and toiletries and warm water. the food was excellent and the company even better Vasu and Bala were very gracious and warm Looking forward to my next stay soon

An absolutely delightful Homestay! Bala and Vasu's hospitality knocked us out. The food was exceptional right down to the homemade Granola, refreshing tomato juice from their organic garden and the freshly baked bread each morning to the varied menus each night. We were delighted to be in the company of an organic farmer, cheesemaker and an amazing chef and wonderful hosts. A well stocked library, napkin origami with Vasu and amateur magic nights kept son thoroughly entertained and for not once did we hear 'I am bored'. We loved it and cant wait to go back!

Not once did we feel that we were paying guests at Vasu and Bala's Cinnabar Farms. It felt as though we were visiting friends! Walking into Cinnabar is like walking into a home with the welcoming smell of baking (And there was that plenty in fact!). The warmth, the caring, the wish to see guests happy reaches one in waves from every member of the cinnabar farm home stay.
The food is out of this world, delicious and cooked entirely by Vasu and Bala. And oh organic as well. I cant rave enough about the home made granola and bread, the home cured cheese, the gourmet coffee, the cheese cake, the crisp salads.....i could go on and on and then some! Each meal was though through and each day we ate like kings on Italian, Arabic and Asian cuisine.
We had gone to visit our 12 year old niece who studies at Kodai International School and what really made her time special was the fact that we got to hand pick our own lettuse, passion fruit and radish! She spent many happy afternoons in Vasu's kitchen, sometimes watching her put together a cheese cake and at others, trying her hand at making momos or sipping on a glass of milk. And then there was Cookie and Hero the resident dogs who love to get their stomach scratched. Our niece was in seventh heaven.
Cinnabar is a special place. A place to unwind. A place to just be. Vasu and Bala have that magical way with people. Its almost as if they know exactly what you want even if you havent said a word. And they make it happen for you.
The only place i would ever stay if in Kodai!

It was our first time at a "home stay" and we are very glad we chose cinnabar to break us in. We felt it was a much better than staying at a hotel.
Great food, great company, great service. Bala and Vasu really made us feel at home and were very helpful with tips and advice on the local sights and shopping. Food was different and varied each night. we will be back soon.

If you are looking for a relaxed, unhurried, chilled-out holiday over the weekend, then this is the place to be. Vasu and Bala's warm hospitality is touching and so is the soul food that they create in their kitchen. Straight from the heart, the food will appease even a finicky aficionado. They will read your mind and serve your favourite cheesecake just the way you like it. They will even teach you how to make the mouthwatering desserts if you are willing!

The rooms are very clean and comfortable with adequate space, and the service non-intrusive. One of the rooms even has a TV for those who wouldn't want to miss their daily soap while on a holiday. But the beauty of the stay is the friends that one would make here. From the hand drawn map made by Vasu which is an immense help while roaming the smallish town to the exciting local stories that you would get to hear around the fireplace.

The whole experience is like a cup of hot cappuccino - warm and full of fun.

We had selected the homestay by looking at it on the net! So we were a little apprehensive. We had stayed at homestays before , but usually with somebody's recommendations! So this time I decided to speak to Mr. Bala the owner and then take a call. It was worth all the driving we had done. The owners Mr. Bala and his wife Vasu were really warm people and they served dinner and breakfast personally cooked by them. All the vegeterian food is grown on their farm and made there, even the bread, the cheese and the jams. They serve all kinds of cuisin and we had medeterenian and Italian food. We usually spent evening chatting with them in their living room in front of warm fireplace. Both of them are widely travelled and hence its really nice to chat with them. It never felt like were meeting for the first time. It was like staying at your friend's place but yet having the privacy of the hotel.
The rooms are testfully decorated with Indo Western articles. Even the paintings are made by Vasu. The whole architecture of the rooms with its wooden ceiling and flooring reminded me of Himalayan cabins! The beds were danish and very comfortable! They are very child friendly people and so it was great!
