Hotel Kasera Paradise
Ranked #12 of 13 Hotels in Bundi
Reviewed April 4, 2010

Bundi is a wonderful town (our favourite town in our trip - don't miss it!) & the Kasera Paradise is a fine place to stay here. The hotel is well situated with a great view of the palace, town & lake from the rooftop terrace/restaurant & a fairly short walk from the market & step wells. We liked our colourful room though it was a little OTT, & the bathroom was ok (we were told by the owner that they were to be updated/redone soon with more modern fittings). Water is heated by solar panels, which is a good thing in my opinion, but does mean that you need to be aware of timing if you want a hot shower.
Service, run by the manager Anita & 1 young boy was fun, friendly & helpful. They really did a stirling job dealing with arrivals, housekeeping, cleaning & both cooking & serving for the restaurant, but for the number of rooms in the hotel & popularity of the restaurant more staff are definitely required, & whatever Anita is paid, it can't be enough. The lady is a star. However, we found that it meant there wasn't always someone on hand, & service could be very slow. It could feel uncomfortable asking for something from Anita when she was clearly rushed off her feet & exhausted, though she would insist it wasn't a problem. More staff, & the hotel would be much improved.

A comfortable hotel with fantastic views from the rooftop restaurant of Bundi Palace on the hill above. We had a spacious room and enjoyed the food, and appreciated the helpfulness of the staff.

My wife and I knew from friends that Bundi was a great place and after checking out all the reviews we settled on Kasera Paradise. For us it was the highlight of our Rajasthan trip. Firstly , the location . Within metres of the incredible palace, described by Rudyard Kipling as having been built by goblins. It was straight out of Lord of the Rings. There were great views over the town and reservoir. The hotel itself was a 400 year old haveli ,tastefully refurbished with great paintings all over the walls, a really great big room, lovely coloured glass windows, air con, comfy bed .Simple, tasty food served by the hardest working lady ever. She was great and couldn't do enough for us. Whatever wage she is on is not enough.
We were five minutes walk from the middle of town ,and what a great little town it was
The owner, Navreet , was a great young bloke who thought I was much too stressed. A very helpfull man , who even took me downtown on the back of his scooter, late at night, to find an atm. I would have no hesitation telling anybody this is a great place to stay. We will never forget it.

This is one of the most lovely places we have stayed in Rajasthan. The attention to detail and decoration of the rooms is wonderful. As well as looking fantastic, sporting some of the best Palace views available and being in beautiful Bundi, this hotel also has the lovely Anita who will whip you up a lovely meal or massage the long fort walk from your aching bones.
Navneet, the hotel owner is also very helpful and good for a interesting chat about life in Bundi. I can't recommend this hotel highly enough.

The rooms are spotlessly clean (a rarity in India) and have nice touches. A lot of effort was put into decor. The rooftop view is really good, overlooking the lake, city and the palace behind. BUT, we cannot recommend this place to anyone because of very bad management.
Three examples follow:
1. We arrived late (and had given details of the time of arrival earlier in the day), and found the place locked and empty. If we hadn't had a cell phone, I'm not sure what we would have done. We did call, and the owner came over from his other hotel (they own three in town) and opened up eventually (it's a cold place to be waiting late at night). So, no manager is on premises between 10:30pm and 6am.
2. 24 hour hot water is advertised and charged for (1200 rupees is a lot for India, we had a much better room for the same price with a view, hot water, TV and just as much charm in Udaipur). We tried to have a shower after dinner, but the water was lukewarm (and it's freezing this time of year). The hot water situation was eventually rectified after more than an hour of waiting for the geyser to heat up, then working to convince the lady who works there to call her boss (she was afraid she would get in trouble for the hot water not working). I finally had to walk over to the other hotel (where the owner lives) and ask him to look into the hot water. He came over, turned a temperature knob on the roof (he claimed the monkeys must have turned it down), and hot water did come. But, what a hassle.
3. We had an early morning departure so asked to pay the night before checkout. The owner does not trust his staff to handle any money (says a lot) so "a boy was sent to fetch me" and walk me over to the other hotel to pay our bill. It was dark, cold and incredibly inconsiderate to have me walk to him to pay the bill. Either empower your staff or make yourself available! Unbelievable.

We we there in the off-season and had time to get to know the hotel owners who are a fun and entertaining couple. It was during the Tej festival and a fun time to be there. Hotel is beautifully decorated. Bathroom floors can get slick so be careful after showers.

Great place in a great and friendly little town. Good food in both hotels that they own- with lovely rooftop dining. And monkeys!

We spent two weekends here during our stay in India. It is very clean and comfortable and in a very good location for the Palace and City Centre, etc. I have no hesitations in recommending this hotel.
