“Decaying Palace but worth a visit.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 25, 2014

Views from palace are good if it's not too foggy.Very interesting site to visit but it is sad that it is caught up in a legal wrangle and gently decaying during the process. Some rooms are still reflective of better past.

“Rudyard Kipling's summer residence.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2014 via mobile

According to the guide books, this was where Kipling spent his summers and got inspiration for his writing.
The place is somewhat run down, but restoration is under way. Apparently a museum is coming, so that should add to the appeal of the place.
I personally found the setting beautiful and serene. There was a strong ambience of 19th century India and a great sense of tranquility. Obviously not everyone's cup of chaï !!

“Could be more interesting”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

Didn't help that we visited during monsoon rains but there was not much to see at the place where Kipling reportedly had the inspiration for 'Kim'. However, a museum was under construction so this might add to it.

“Did Kipling stay here?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 22, 2013

A average building - nothing special about it - except that it overlooks the Jait Sagar lage. Not much to recommend it except the guards who give you a combined ticket to other buildings in the city open to tourists and the guards when we visited - Tariq and Narayan - who gave us lot of very helpful material about Bundi - including maps and descriptions of places in and around Bundi.
