This hotel has grown considerably in recent years so if you come here expecting the cosy place with thatched dining area described in Lonely Planet, you will be surprised... but probably not disappointed.

The 'new' Birder's Inn has lovely rooms, set around a nice courtyard which also has a small swimming pool.

It's very close to the Park gate, and the food is decent, although not remarkable.

My one gripe was that breakfast is served too late to make it to the Park in time for sunrise - surely a "birder's inn" would cater for real birders who want to get to the Park early? That said, they did organise an excellent ornithologist who took us into the Park.

We just spent 6 days at The Birder's Inn. The hotel is well run, with very friendly staff. We found everybody so helpful. The food is very good with lots of variety. Good room service ,clean towels and rooms made up every day. The weather was, typically perhaps for late December, foggy and cold morning and chilly in the evenings but the sun came out and warmed things up by 10 or 11am. A big bonfire is set in the garden every evening. The Inn is only minutes from the entrance to Keoladeo Nat. park. What absolutely made our experience was Pradeep Singh, the naturalist and birding guide who works from the Inn. Each day he took us to a different area in the park, we saw a wide range of birds and Pradeep kept track of what we had already seen and guided us to see many different birds every day. We recommend The Birder's Inn highly. When my partner was unwell with a bad cold they produced a hot water bottle. They also helped us make travel arrangements moving on from here. A perfect place to stay when visiting the park - but don't forget to take the guide ... Thank you Pradeep.

All along while living in Delhi, I never imagined that I was missing on a gem right under my nose. I mean both Bharatpur and Birder's Inn. The hotel is excellently located right next to the park entrance, has very beautiful comy rooms and excellent food. Its excellent value for money. The staff is courteous and cater to your every need. Loved the spacious rooms which were beautifully decorated in Rajasthani art.

Room Tip: Rooms on the ground floor have a garden view and open into it !!!

It is hard to understand that such a neighborhood can hide such an excellent hotell. The neighborhood is the average Indian local city. The hotel has spacius rooms, good service and adequate food. It turned out to be a good base for bird watching.

The Birder's Inn is just a five minute walk away from the entrance of the bird park. However, if you like me imagine the hotel to be located amidst lush green or perhaps even forest area you will be in for a shock to discover that the hotel is one among a number of hotels situated off the busy highway. Fortunately once you enter the hotel, the courtyard greenery, tasteful interiors, small swimming pool and Alfresco restaurant all build up to dispel your initial disappointment.

The rooms are comfortable and large with ample storage space, good air conditioners (that also have a 'heat' setting) and a large bathroom that offers piping hot water 24X7. The bathrooms don't have any hooks to hang towels and clothes from and the bore well water is brackish - so you may want to brush your teeth with bottled water and definitely carry a good hair conditioner. But besides these little things, the hotel is a chilled out , charming place with images and paintings of birds around the entire property and within the rooms as well. A campfire is organised every night and you could also view a canopy of stars from the tiny terrace.

The restaurant serves excellent continental and Indian fare. The buffet turned out to be a very interesting spread for every meal. If you are ordering a la carte, make sure to ask for less spice if you don't want your Indian dishes too spicy. Rajasthani food tends to be quite fiery anyway so if you inform them while placing the order your meal will be just fine. The butter naans are superb as is the chicken tikka masala. The hotel staff are attentive and helpful. We did not have a problem with our billing as another reviewer mentioned having. We were concerned that we were not presented a bill to be signed post every meal but when we went through them at check out everything was in order.

For birders who want to head into the park early, breakfast at the hotel starts by around 6.45 am. Cycle rickshaws are available from the entrance of the hotel itself or you could walk to the main entrance and hire a cycle there. (Only cycle rickshaws and no cycles are available at the second check point which is the last stop for cars.) The hotel can also arrange a packed lunch for those who would rather spend the day at the park. The park canteen has only tea, coffee, cold drinks and branded wafers.

Birder's Inn is a delightful place for those with a birding focus.

Room Tip: The room that faces the terrace has large glass windows but you can be seen by anyone who visits the...

We stayed at the Birders Inn for just one night to visit Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary. It is on the busy Agra to Jaipur highway and looks relatively downmarket from the road. As soon as you enter the lobby you can see this is not the case, with the tasteful colonial style decor and vvery pleasant tropical gardens. The bedrooms are at the back of the property and well back from the road so are relatively quiet, although traffic can be heard in the quiet of nighttime with windows open. The tasteful decor extends to the bedrooms which feature tasteful hardwood furnishings.  Was completely clean with a comfortable king size bed which made for a good nights sleep.
I can thoroughly recommend the restaurant for dinner which is a buffet. Some of the more tasty Indian food that we have had. There is also fee wifi in the looby and gardens. No reason not to recommend this one.
