The best heritage property, I'v ever visited. If you plan to visit Bharatpur, stay just in this property. We stayed in New wing, room with Balcony, very spacious, huge bathroom, big corridors, quick service. Huge property, nice and clean pool. Puppet show in the evening. Very close to Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.

Our group had the opportunity to take lunch at the Laxmi Vilas Palace Hotel while en route to Agra. We loved the beautifully landscaped grounds and the hotel buildings. The pavillion where we dined was filled with chandeliers, painted ceilings and walls, and plenty of gilding and, though quite new, it looks as if it were built two hundred years ago.

Our buffet meal was tasty and well-prepared with an eye to maintaining the integrity of Indian cuisine while toning the spice down just a bit for the tourists. Indian restaurants often make the mistake of removing too much spice to accommodate foreigners. The taste was just right here. Check out my photos for architectural details of this hotel.

Dear Sir
Greetings From Bharatpur.
Thanks for your valued comments and how much you liked the place and the authentic indian food which we normally serve, but as we have people having lunch in transit from Agra to jaipur and the other way around we do check their nationality and get food cooked accordingly after taking clearance from the company. Next time you are in India it would be our pleasure to serve you and give you better experience then the last time. Thanking you.

You enter the gates to see a very impressive Palace and so are full of expectation. The reception is a desk in a small foyer with a not so helpful young man that politely checks you in, gives you a key and says you are in the new building and that's it! No directions, no information, nothing- you are on your own! We found the room with some help from the maintenance staff and we thought it to be very quirky. Previous comments speak of the padlocks but that is all part of the character. The rooms are extremely huge, but this makes them extremely cold too. We had to have the heater on all night which was noisy. Our room was clean but the towels in the bathroom were damp. We experienced the negative points mentioned already such as charges for additional tea and coffee, no room service, limited hot water and In fact no cold water the morning we left. The food was extremely limited buffet food but we found the waiting staff very friendly and helpful. This property could be so much more as the actual building is beautiful but there's is no atmosphere and lots of improvement needed.

Stayed here on a weekend and thoroughly enjoyed it. Let me first say that if you are a serious birder who will spend the whole day in the park then this hotel might not be for you. You will be much better off staying somewhere just outside the gates of the park. There are many hotels there.

THE POSITIVES
This hotel is a palace and some distance away from the park. The beauty of this place is the space it has. The rooms are huge and you will be taken back to pre independence days. There are old photographs framed and kept everywhere which will give you some insight on how people lived in such palaces. The meals are catered to suit the European palate by being less spicy and mildly subdued taste. There are a lot many birds that come inside the palace. In fact they have a field guide on birds you can see right in this palace. They also have a puppet show going on everyday.

THE NEGATIVES
1. It is a little far from the park so if you do not have your own car it might be a problem.
2. The food is expensive. Rs 750 per person + taxes for dinner and Rs 600 + taxes for lunch.
3. No room service.
4. For people on wheelchair it will be a hassle to go to the first floor. The staircase has no railing or things that you can hold.
5. The dining area is a good walk from the old haveli and there is no cover from the elements. So if it raining you will most definitely get drenched.

Beautiful from outside..hollow from inside..staff treats you like you are staying for free..above all the manager incharge of the hotel was rude beyond imagination. He fought over breakfast with almost 15 people at 9:40 am refusing to serve any food, saying that breakfast is served til 9:30, whereas clearly it is stated at the reception that breakfast is till 10 am. he almost threatened to some of the guests that he would teach them a lesson outside...i cant imagine this kind of a nonsense at even a roadside hotel, leave aside the question of a 4 star deluxe property like laxmi vilas palace...
1. extremely rude staff
2. the reservations manager informed me that they don’t accept bookings from makemytrip whereas it was not the case. He was trying to sell me the room for Rs 2000 more than what makemytrip was charging. Finally makemytrip had to intervene and after they fought with the hotel guys, they accepted my booking
3. hot water is there only till 10 am in morning and 5 pm to 10 pm in evening.
4. i asked for a refill of the tea sachet in the room, i was told that it will be only done once a day..can you imagine a hotel charging you 6000 rs a day and saying all that...
5. i asked for some ice to be provided in my room and was told by the bar people that if they give ice to me, it will be finished for their own guests (who come and drink at the bar)..can you beat that?
6. even wifi is chargeable at 100 rs an hour.
7. no ala carte...only buffet for all meals...horrible menu and very high charges
its very clear that the only objective of the hotel is to make money and they care a damn about the guests. this hotel is basically running because of foreigners.

NEVER stay at this property and waste your money like i did.

Room Tip: dont stay, only visit for sight seeing

Dear Mr Vijay ji
Your complain has really come as a surprise as some of the points raised seem to have some substance not all a`s the manager in charge has been in our organization for more then 15 years and never such complain has come to our notice. Rest i personally did some detailing on your complain and will surely reply to all of them.
1. I would like to make it very clear that we get lot of business from Make my trip .com so the question of not booking a room through them do-sent arise, also to update you that we have a special contracted rate and we update their booking chart on weekly basis so any booking confirmed by them has to be accepted. In a situation like this where does the question of charging Rs 2000 extra come from.
2. Well as we all know that the consumption of electricity and water in hotels is very high and we are trying to protect the environment there fore there are timings for hot water but if you wanted hot water beyond the given time i am sure if you would have asked the reception they could have not refused.
3.As far as your refill of tea sachet is concerned i am sure you are a big traveler and what i know of hotels is that they fill up the sachet once in 24 hours not three times a day. Its not a matter of cost its the normal practice which most of the hotels do. Still if you needed some tea or coffee you could have asked the reception they would have been more then happy to serve you.
4. For your ice issue i got the information that at 8Pm they did serve you ice for your drinks in the room and then again at 10 pm but i do understand staff objecting for your drinks in the courtyard you must have not liked but i am sure you would be aware that we have full bar license which comes at some cost and that cost has to be recovered from the guests and as per the hotel policy we dont allow outside drinks.
5. Yes as far as wifi is concerned we do charge Rs 100 per hour Rs 300 for five hours and Rs 500 for 24 hours i still could not understand whats wrong in this.
6.As far as Ala carte is concerned as a policy of the hotel we only serve buffet when our occupancy is more then 70% just to avoid lapses in service for which we do consider the guests request if items can be delivered in time, otherwise we would be looking at new complaints.
Now comes the last question in which you have stated that hotel is just interested in making money for that sir i would like to update that its been 20 years we have been in the market and if that was the case we could have not been where we are. Our hotel being the only palace heritage hotel in town we do get foreigners but that's not the reason to put them on a priority and leave the rest.
Would also like to update that we are not selling five star culture its the experience for which people are hear for, so may be we could not match to your expectations rest will look into the points raised by you and make sure they are not repeated.
