This was my first sanctuary visit.. Reached Bharatpur on Friday eve.

Opening time: 6 AM Closing Time: 5 PM
Ticket per person: 50 Rs (indian) 250 Rs (Other than indian)
Cycle rate: 25 for normal and 40 for ladies and rangers
Binocular: 50 Rs per hr
Guide : 150 Rs per hr (They have binoculars)(They can arrange a telescope also)
Rickshaw: 100 Rs per hr (Choose the one with Yellow name and number place. Insist for binocular They are equally knowledgeable as guide)
Boating: 150 Rs per hr (Insist to take to Main Lake)

Its definitely a place where u can see a lot birds which u haven't ever seen.. they are beautiful .. very beautiful.

Then in bird sanctuary I heard the name PYTHON and asked our guide to show us.. and we saw 5 (4 live around 12-15 ft each and the one dead was 12 feet). Then we released the guide and planned to roam our self but somehow one of the bicycle broke and we had to carry it till gate 12 kms (Bad experience on first day.) BEWARE WHEN YOU HIRE A CYCLE CHECK IT PROPERLY AND BE PREPARED TO CARRY IT TILL GATE IN CASE IT BREAKS

Option 1: Take map, binocular and cycle on gate and roam urself(ASK HELP AT CHECKPOST IF YOU NEED ANY).
Option 2: Take a rickshaw on gate with binocular(100 Rs per hr) They also have knowledge like guide.

On the second day we saw two pythons 2 ft and 8 ft near the main track.

There are canteen and washroom at gate and then at Keoladev Temple.

Boating was a nice experience .. do it in morning itself.

TIP: DO NOT SPEND A LOT TIME TILL FIRST CHECKPOST.

We are by no means bird enthusiasts. However, we do love nature and we were driving from Delhi -Agra-Jaipur so along with the Agra bear facility, which I highly recommend, we went bike riding at the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in the national park. You have to pay for entry, then choose your bike in another room where they note your info/bike number. Then you go back to the ticket booth and pay for your bike. They do have ladies bikes by the way, so you don't hurt your private bits. Check your bikes beforehand- they are really low quality bikes (but they were the standard in India), and my pedal was rotating incorrectly, and my husband's bike had a flat. We switched our bikes for a new set.
There are two additional guard gates, which is incredibly annoying if you don't have your ticket readily available, so be prepared to stop and show your ticket. One is a few feet from when you start riding, and another is about 1/4-1/2 mile in.
The first section is short, dry, and boring. However, be ready to be enthralled the rest of the path (about 3-4 miles) with lots of gorgeous water features with unique birds/flocks. Really unique setting. There are a few side dirt roads you can take off the path, one of which we saw a small Komodo dragon. There were a lot of guides giving tours, and they were friendly about telling you if there was an owl or something interesting to look at, if you stop near them.
We would have wanted to go further on some of the side paths, but didn't want to risk being stranded on our rickety bikes. We rode the main path to the end and went a little ways on a side road, took our time, and spent about 2 1/2 hours here. Really enjoyable!!

It is an excellent park and you can easily spot lot of beautiful birds in the season.
The entire park (sanctuary) is well maintained.
It is recommended to hire a guide as they spot the birds that an amateur can't. They also know the location where specific types of birds are found.
The tracks are nicely built. Hire a cycle rickshaw if you are with family or do not want to walk much.
You can also rent a bicycle.
The rates for guides and rickshaws are fixed.

Do's:
1. In winters carry warm clothes.
2. Carry a cap or hat
3. Carry some snacks or food. The canteen in the center of the park offers limited items.
4. Wear sports shoes and loose pants was you may try to get off road to click some pictures

Dont's
1. Do not make noise as it might disturb the birds and serious photographers\ bird watchers
2. Do not feed birds.
3. Do not litter
4. Do not throw stones in water or over trees in an attempt to view bird movements. It might hurt the birds or other small animals.

Very easy to see lot of birds. There is one main road and you can just walk around yourself and guaranteed sighting of exotic birds. Also there are a number of foxes, nilgais and spotted dears that roam freely in the area.
