“Chilled out and relaxing”
Reviewed February 13, 2007

This hotel was recommended in the Alastair Sawday guide "Special Places to Stay". It was a bit difficult to find (our rickshaw driver had to stop three times to ask directions - tip: it is next door but one to the Ritz Hotel) but once we arrived it felt like an oasis. It smelled fresh and clean, the staff were enchanting and the room was delightful.

We didn't eat supper at the hotel but the breakfasts were excellent (great omelettes) although I would have preferred fresh coffee to Nescafe - given the price of the hotel which was £56 for a double room - at least twice what we paid anywhere else on our trip to northern India.

Spent two nights in Amritsar and found the hotel to be very nice. The room was spacious and clean and the hotel well of the main street so that it was very quiet. The other choices in Amritsar looked less than nice and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Sad and poor hotel, terrible staff and very tired. Booked the hotel because of the good tripadviror reviews and great looking website, but cant understand how anyone could rate the hotel highly, and website photos are very missleading. Best hotel in Amritsar? No way.

I'm an artist and spend about half of the year travelling, exploring new places around the world. I'd like to recommend this little heritage boutique hotel and spa as a beautiful and inspirational place to stay.

It only has 15 rooms, so it’s very cosy and personal, and each room has a different style, filled with antiques. The 250 year old haveli, run by the family who has lived there for many generations, is a lovely dark pink colour and so full of history. I don’t like standard hotels, they lack character, so finding this wonderful hotel was a treasure. The staff are all sweet and friendly, and the cafe and dining rooms are relaxing and comfortable. They have an ayurvedic spa which was heavenly! And they're also eco-friendly and organic, which seems to be quite unusual in India.

This is the second time I’ve been to Amritsar, and it is definately the only really special place to stay there.

  • Liked — the ambience
  • Disliked — internet connection was dodgy
  • Tips/Secrets — ask to see the rooms when you check in, or check them out on the website - each one is different!

This place really is as lovely as the pictures look, checkout their website.

It is not cheap but it is beautiful and, best of all, the service is wonderful - attentive without being overbearing (so many more expensive hotels get this wrong) and they are genuinely friendly. Rooms are very comfy. The only negative I can think of is that I was rather suprised to be given instant coffee, very out of place in a place like this.

Stay here.

We found Amritsars more relaxed atmosphere a welcome break from the hecticness of the rest of India. This Guest House had so much atmosphere, the cooking was wonderful and the staff were incredible friendly and accomodating.

An excellent getaway in a peaceful setting with gorgeous suite rooms and spa massages. Lovely food and personal attentive young staff. Will become one of Indias great small boutique spas. Will recommend to others.
