“Beautiful introduction to Amritsar”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

Wonderful colonial family home, welcoming and extremely comfortable. Knowing it was my first visit to Amritsar and too that i was travelling alone the hotel arranged for a car and driver to meet me at the airport.
Nothing has been too much trouble and the family are very much hands on with a strong sense of customer service. Natural, charming and most professional.

I had a series of spa treatments - super.....you must take time out to indulge.

My room was beautiful complete with a roll top tub.

A visit to Amritsar would not be complete without staying here.

Thank you so very much- i look forward to a return visit.

We were looking for a nicer place to stay for two nights in early November. We enjoy India's heritage hotels, as they tend to have great character. We gave two young children and stayed in a family suite. We found the room to be nice, but the service was not quite matching the price tag attached to the room. As foreign residents in India, we are accustomed to the norms of India and have stayed in a variety of types of accommodation. I guess the frustrating part is when you are willing to pay a little extra, but the level of service doesn't match.
The food was average, which is generally forgivable when accompanied by good service. But we found the dining service to be below average, and lots of dirty dishes and offers of old toast from previous diners.
Amritsar apparently doesn't have many higher end accommodation options, so I would recommend this with hesitation....just keep perspective and don't get your hopes up too high.

Beautiful old family home in a peaceful setting. We stayed here on our visit to The Golden Temple and loved it. Every room was different and the furnishings were all antiques. Our room was very spacious. There is a pretty courtyard to sit out and enjoy a drink as well as upper balconies to sit on. My only regret is that we couldn’t stay an extra night.

A beautiful setting.
All the staff are very helpfull. The food was excellent, we ate in on both nights. lovely buffet. My mom and I enjoy our stay at Ranjit SVAASA. I definately recommend the hotel to everyone when coming to visit Amritsar for the Golden Temple...
I stayed in the ground floor suite room which was very comfortable and peaceful.

I stayed in Ranjit Svaasa for 2 days. First the stay itself was not horrible and they have clean well maintained rooms no issues there. It is indeed an old family home but not a palace or something special, its just a large house with many rooms. Nothing really heritage about it. The levels of service are very slow and i was offered warm beer and warm white wine when i asked for wine or beer. The food is average, definitely not made by a skilled punjabi cook and the staff almost always got their orders wrong. Its an ok place to stay as long as they dont charge Rs 8000(USD 175) per room night for it like they did with me. I would have gladly paid about USD 60 for a room here no issues for the level of service they provide. The heritage house part is overhyped the only massages they have are ayurvedic massages (they advertise a lot more in their website none of which is available in the spa). All i say is dont go by their website.

We spent one night in the Ranjits Svaasa and we had a good experience. we stayed in one of the deluxe rooms which was spacious, very nicely decorated with all kinds of old antiques , the room was very clean ( good smell, linen etc..) but the bathroom did not give impression ( water was not drainning properly, the toilet seat was not set and it had an old looking ambiance without any vintage feeling..).
The hotel location is good though don't even think about coming with a car..(the parking space is a mess), it's abit hard to find specialy at night time unless you are lucky to find a rikshow driver who knows the place.
many have mentioned the "home away from home" feeling and we did not feel like that at all. Service was efficient but it lacked warmth, it was a bit rigid and technical. We booked the place via booking.com and it seemed as if the hotel was not completly aware of it...
we tried the food both for breakfast and for lunch. lunch was light and nice (not a real bargain..) breakfast was OK , nice variety and good service.
Due to time limits I did not try the spa although it looked tempting but expensive.

To sum up, its a beautiful and peaceful place but there is a place for improvements .

We stayed for 3 ights in this place and can only say that we will recommand this place to everybody. The hotel is centraly located , 200 meter from the Mall road in a green garden, verry comfortable , high standard rooms , no noise from the main road. There is a gard at the gate so only Guests can come in.
The owners are supper friendly as well as the employees.
The only minus is the food service for lunch and dinner. Breakfast is Ok as it's a breakfast buffet. When ordering a dinner menu you need to wait to be served for at least 30 min. I was already done with my dinner when my wife her dinner was ready and served. This is not a pleasend way to have dinner. Also a swimming pool should be a bennefit as the temp. can be high in Amritsar.
