“A out of this world Experience”
Reviewed October 9, 2012

Being a Sikh myself The Golden Temple is one of the most holiest place to be for me. When you are here don't miss out on the langar after the visit to the main Gurudwara.

“Words cannot express this place”
Reviewed October 8, 2012

This is probably one of the most beautiful shrines I have ever seen. Once you enter the temple from the busy surrounding streets, something happens to you. Something serene, something spiritual. You have to be there to experience this.

“the essence of calm”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

this was truly the most incredible place to visit, besides being absolutely beautiful in the visual sense, never before have i experienced such a complete sense of calmness and community anywhere,
Once you step through the compulsory foot-bath and then enter the temple proper you are struck by the gentle and non-threatening nature of this place compared to the madness and rat race just outside its walls. Take your time, dont rush, join in the communal meal, which is safe and delicious and you will walk away with an immense sense of respect for the values that the Sihk community upholds.

“Take your time”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

You really need a day to wander around and take it all in, its also great if you can go back after dark. Take time to wander around the kitchens, the people there are really friendly and you will probably be invited to help with the chapatis!
Its a very spiritual place and needs to be absorbed slowly.

“golden on inside, not out”
Reviewed October 3, 2012

was a little overwhelmed by the crowds surrounding the temple complex, Amritsar is not the prettiest place to go. step in to the temple complex and your greeted with gold and white.. it was very crowded but calm. loved watching everyone walk around the holy pond, but the most memorable thing was doing the free lunch. wow, a great experience. also, not a lot of westerners visit the golden temple, so be prepared to have your pic taken and stared at a lot
