This maybe the best restaurant in Amritsar but…let's just take a look at this.
Atmosphere - located in the Hyatt Hotel the restaurant is well appointed and looks stunning. Filled with Thai and Chinese decor it has a very authentic feel.
Service - the service was very good, attentive yet not too much and always courteous.
The Menu - was well balanced from thai phad to sweet and sour soup, from chilli prawns to mussaman curry. A well balanced menu
But the food was average…. I know that this is a matter of taste( literally) but this was our experience. We ordered the hot sizhuan soup and the spicy mushroom soup. The sizhuan soup was pleasant but lacked chillies and the biting sourness of this dish and the mushroom soup was OK. We then ordered the chicken with dry chillis and the sweet and sour pork. Again bot these dishes were disappointing. The sweet and sour pork lack real taste and hadn't been near China recently and the dry chicken was fine but had little in the way of chilli taste attached to it.
It may be that this is the way that the residents and visitors like their food but the essence of Thai and Chinese food is the balance of heat and spice, the subtle of flavours all of which were missing here. The food was acceptable. We had a bottle of wine - a 6GBP bottle of jacobs creek that sold for 30 GBP here but that is the mark up in restaurants. The total cost of the meal was 60 GBP.
