“Evoke your patriotism!”
Reviewed August 29, 2013

Every Indian must visit this site if you are in the region just to get the rush of patriotism in you and what better place than the border with Pakistan. Although the Retreat Ceremony is a combined staged event by the Indian and Pakistan border security forces, it is interesting to see the marches and the draw down of the national flags at the end of each day. But it is worth the effort only if you get the VIP passes. Otherwise one can't watch much of the event. We were lucky to be close to action - thanks to the VIP arrangements made by a friend. As a matter of fact, we were lucky to see the crossing of the public bus across from India to Pakistan.

“Where the cultures meet!”
Reviewed August 25, 2013

Wagah Border is a place where every evening flag is removed and the entire ceremony is done with lot of fanfare on both sides of border. Environment is to be seen to believe. Try to get the VIP passes if you can to get the much better view.
In summers the entry is opened at 5PM, but reach at about 4 to get good view. Once you reach just go to the shortest line as this is only main gate and all queues are opened immediately. There would be no mobile working and men and women are separated from very beginning. So agree on a place to meet in case any of your group member gets lost. Also beware of pick-pockets as every day lots of people complain about the same.
Once there try to get seat at the front and also as much on your left as possible. Women and kids get to run to the border gate with the Indian flag and then dance to the several patriotic tunes. Entire atmosphere makes you love your country all over again and even while the main ceremony is very short, you enjoy the every bit of it.
You can take snaps with military officers at the end who are more then happy to be snapped.
All in all a great fun and must visit. Only that the crowd management and facilities could be better.

“The worst experience ever”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Went to Amritsar and thought that since we were there we should visit wagah Border. BIG mistake. It was like a circus. We spent 2 hours roasting in the sun to see some drama like activities. Nothing interesting and I'd not visit again even if I was paid to do so.
