“Good Hotel”
Reviewed July 1, 2013

The proximity of the hotel to the golden temple is great. The Rooms were neat and comfortable. The front office staff was courteous and friendly Overall a good experience but the only the food quality was not up to the mark. Amritsar having a lot of eating joints one should manage easily.

A visitor to Amritsar with aim to have darshan at Holy Golden Temple will enjoy close proximity of Hotel.Rooms are good and reasonably clean,\.The staff can be given a training about dealing with the visitors specially about guidance to city and general behaviour.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are better.

The hotel is a perfect place to visit to the Golden Temple .... 2 minute walk across the street. Please ensure that u hire a cab from the hotel while coming from the airport/ station as before 10.00 pm vehicles are not allowed into the area near Golden Temple. It has spacious rooms as well.

The staff - Sumit was very courteous and he took utmost care with regard to our trip to the Wagah border as we had a 5 month old baby and arranged for good place to sit. Food would say priced on the higher side and not that great.

The only sad part was is that we hired a vehicle for our 6 day onward trip from the hotel from Amritsar - Dalhousie-Khajjiar-Dharamshala... the driver was good as he drove swiftly but he had no idea about places in Himachal and whenever we said we need to go for sight seeing he was not happy. I would say please hire a vehicle from a tour operator and not from the hotel. We had to get a 2nd driver and he did not how operate the vehicle ... thats the reason we requested for the 1st fellow... too much hassle with a 5 month baby... Please hire a vehicle for a long trip from a good travel agent.

I'm giving one-star out of five only for the courteous gentleman who took care of the room service. Bathrooms were leaking, stayed in most expensive room of the hotel which was not even worth half the money of Rs.2500 for the family room (2+1). At checkout time, they wanted to squeeze more money out of us by asking us to pay taxes on top of the amount that we had earlier agreed at the time of booking that the tariff was inclusive of all taxes. At the last minute of checkout, they made us pay Rs.800 for a taxi fare from the hotel to the airport which was supposed to be Rs.300. The hotel called a taxi for us and since it was LAST MINUTE, we had no choice but to succumbed to their PRESSURE TACTICS. I SUGGEST NOBODY SHOULD GO NEAR THIS HOTEL as they give a BAD NAME to Amritsar's hotel industry.

The location first- it is absolutely perfect. One comes out of the lane and there in front of you is the Entrance (with a shoe rack) one can actually walk from the Hotel w/o shoes. We visited it late night to see the ceremony and even at 4.30 in the morning to see the ceremony and sunrise. It was magical.
Now the lesser attractive part. Three of us were sharing the room and the situation was ' how to fit 3 elephants in a Sarovar Regency room'. The house keeping is a bit disoriented with one having to remind them to clean the room. Then again there was some decoration was on and all through the afternoon the carpenters were going 'thak' 'thak'.
To end on a positive note, the room service is superb!

Choose this hotel if you're looking for anything close to Golden Temple. Everything is a walking distance, station is close by too. The area is a bit congested, so do not expect a great view or a spacious balcony with your room. It's a hotel with minimums well in place.

We stayed at Hotel Sarovar Regency in December. The location of the hotel was very close to the Golden Temple. It was difficult to find the hotel as it was situated very deep in the city. The problem was that the parking in the city was opened only from 9:pm onwards because the police doesn't allow the car to get on the road before 9:pm. The rooms of were quite small for 3 people. The service of the hotel was good. The staff was helpful. Overall the hotel was an average hotel for me.
