“The father of Indian Cinema”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 10, 2014

The Dadasaheb Phalke Memorial is worth visiting. The history of the birth of Indian Cinema is very interesting. However please skip the Musical Fountain if you are looking for an illuminating experience. When we visited, the show started 40 minutes late and all we saw was a few bollywood number and water fountain. There was no relation between the two. Please skip. The only beneficiaries of the musical fountains are the mosquitoes who will eat you alive.

“Stoopa and the Memorial very attractive”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 15, 2014

The Palke Memorial has huge garden and a stupa like building which looks very attractive. It gives very pleasant pictures of the Hindi movies and a glimpse of the Indian films in a very attractive way. The garden is beautiful and one can enjoy the beauty of the garden. This building is next to Pandav Leni caves and one can see both,

“Buddha Memorial is Awesome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 31, 2013

The Phalke Memorial is nothing but a manicured garden. Nicely presented boards depict Musical fountains, open air theatre, etc but alas not a single thing promised seems to be working. As you are about to feel dejected & are on your way out, you come across a huge circular dome & when you enter into it, you encounter a massive gold coloured Buddha Statue which is simply out of this world & makes up for the disappointment of the place.

“Wanted to give "V Good" Rating but for the partial Closure!!But together with Buddha Vihar its worth a "V Good"”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

Only the portion of the Memorial with Posters of Hindi Movies is open for Public display.Yes,it definitely gives a glimpse of Indian film down the memory lane but the fact that most of the posters are in Marathi was a dampener for non-marathis' like me.I might have missed many valuable information due to my inability to read Marathi.Nevertheless I enjoyed my visit of around 40 minutes.
The highlights:1)Photographs of Legends of Hindi Cinema and their works.
2)The memorial is situated next to Buddha Vihar which is a large stupa(Dome) like structure and has a huge golden Buddha statue. You will enjoy the tranquility of the place as there will be no one between the Buddha and you. This place is so devoid of any noise that you will be literally able to hear your own breathing.
Moreover there is a water Park with all sorts of rides where you can enjoy with your kids.
