“Somewhat lost its original charm”
Review of Someshwar Temple

Recently visited Someshwar temple a month back and the surrounding place and Godavari river side has last all its charm. The temple itself has lot of religious significance, but the surroundings which used to be so pleasant a few years back are no longer the same. Godavari river is dirty and sullied and very less flowing water.

The place was beautiful and had a beautiful lake.It had steameer boats, paddle boats and bikes with instructors.A small area was devoted to childrens' swings and rides. The temples had beautiful idols and the place was big and beautiful. The lake was tranquil.

This has been favorite picnic spot of all Nashikites since years. You get to see Someshwar Temple and few smaller temples around, kids play area, and many good spots to sit and relax along the river bank. The boating in river is also available. Better to walk and explore the surrounding, mainly if you walk towards Dudhsagar falls.

We visited Someshwar temple during the first week of December 2012. Like others had said, it was peaceful, quiet and serene - nobody pushing you around asking you to hurry up. You could stay and pray as long as you wanted to. The atmosphere was very peaceful. You could go very close to the diety and even touch the diety. This was amazing as in the other places you had to stay way back and get only a glimpse of the diety.

There was not much water in the Godavari river at this time of the year. We were told several Indian movies are shot near this river.

Lord Shiva devotees must visit. On the banks of the river, not much rush, also u have lord hanuman, ram & narayan temples in there. U can go right upto the idol. Plenty of parking available as well.
