“Nice place but not so close to Munnar”
Reviewed October 12, 2012

We stayed 2 nights. The place it very nice and the staff were extremely nice and helpful. They even took us to a nice walk around and a visit to the village. Food was good too. The main problem is that it is not so close to Munnar. It's about 45 minutes by car......

In the middle of nowhere, and if nowhere is where you want to be then this is a good place to relax for a small amount of money. We visited in April during the low tourist season and so we were the only guests for a few hours. This is a hotel largely catering for foreign tourists.

We arrived at Dew Drops at around midday and was greeted by the manager. He gave us our room keys and then disappeared with no mention of the facilities or meal times. Once we tracked him down, we asked where the pool and the massage centre was (as described on the website). He informed that there was no pool or place to get a massage at the resort but it was in Munnar, 21km away. We then asked about food. No food available until 7pm. We asked him to arrange an auto so we could grab some stuff from the nearest village. When the auto arrived we were informed that the village was closed due to a religious holiday. After practically begging for something to eat, we were cooked omelettes and toast. Dinner was ok. Rooms were very damp and no hot water. We were supposed to stay two nights but left after one.

Overall it wasn't terrible but we weren't pleased with the blatant lying on the website. I felt sorry the guy who seemed to be the manager/cook/consierge/cleaner as the owner was in Cochin.

Wouldn't stay there again and wouldn't recommend it to a friend. I'm certain that there are places which are of a similar price with better standards.

We had a really nice stay at Dew Drops. We actually appreciated that it was outside Munnar; it was a beautiful drive to get anywhere and we did have a jeep and a driver. Sebastian, the manager is the kindest person and we felt so at ease. It's so peaceful in the morning with all the birds singing. My only criticism was that the room was a bit musty, but this would be difficult to avoid in the thick forest of Kerala. The room & bathroom were clean and our boys loved catching the frogs in the small lily pond.

Really enjoyed my stay at dew drops. IT is outside Munnar but the manager can easily arrange a rickshaw for you for a days sightseeing cost about 1000 INR. Very peaceful and quiet and the food offfered in the small restaurant every night was delicious, while it is true it not really possible to head out to get food as its a bit offf the beaten track this didnt bother us at all , we spent 3 great days here, were out during the dat and then enjoyed the food at the hotel at night. The room was great too very clean and comfortable.

Room Tip: Pay a little extra for a veranda well worth it.

There have been a lot of complaints in the reviews below. Yes, it's a fair way outside Munnar town, but anyone who has actually been to Munnar town should know this is a good thing. We stayed for three nights - the manager was unfailingly friendly, and the home-cooked curries were exceptional and healthy. The grounds were well-kept and there are plenty of opportunities to walk in the surrounding area, with lots of friendly locals. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and the veranda is a great place to relax.

We stayed here for two nights and while the setting is idyllic, it is far from Munnar proper and there are no places to eat within reasonable distance that we saw, so this was disappointing. For dinner, the owner charged 110 INR for a chicken curry dish and 55 INR for each veggie dish--we had to notify him in advance because they had run out to get stuff--this meal wasn't bad, but breakfast--an omelet with toast--wasn't the greatest. I liked the rooms--large, clean and even had satellite TV, but we would rather have had wi-fi. For hot water, you must notify the owner to turn it on and you can have a bucket-style hot bath. Also, FYI--There are frequent power outages. Laundry is 20 INR/piece. Overall, this place would be great if the service were less awkward and if there were more food options nearby.

To get to the Tea Museum in Munnar from Dew Drops without paying 700 INR one way for a taxi (kinda outrageously expensive), walk along the road outside of Dew Drops and get a rickshaw to the Kallar junction (for four of us together it was 50 INR). At the Kallar junction, catch the frequent bus to Munnar (12 INR/person), and once in Munnar, walk or take a cheap rickshaw 1.5 km to the Tea Museum. Plenty of places to eat, get out money, buy tea and chocolate here, so you can stock up on stuff while you're here.
