Tomy and his family provide a beautiful, comfortable, friendly environment for a visit to the Munnar region! Fruit, coffee and spices from their garden are part of every fabulous meal. The view just a few minutes up the road is outstanding! If at all possible, take the 1 hour walk down the hill, through the forest and cardamom plantation, to a little town in the valley below that is serene and beautiful. From there you can catch a bus to Munnar. Tomy arranged a driver to take us to the Erivikulum National Forest (a bit disappointing to have to go into the reserve in a tourist bus, but we did see tahr) and then for a hike in Chinnar National Forest. This was great, with 2 very helpful guides. Although Rose Gardens is about 10 km outside of Munnar (towards Kochi), I enthusiastically recommend these very generous, gracious hosts!

Room Tip: Upstairs rooms have a large veranda with a stunning view! Downstairs rooms look right into the gard...

This is a really lovely home stay, just outside of munnar on the main road. The gardens are beautiful and Tomy took us round to look at spices and try the fruit- the bananas and homemade honey are delicious! The rooms are basic but large and comfortable (maybe in the future they could add pictures to the walls and a dressing table) we were quite cold when we were there (it rained!) and Tomy provided big warm blankets for us which was great! The balcony looks out over the garden and it's nice to sit and have tea in the afternoon (they will bring you tea and snacks when you get home). There is free Internet and wifi which was good for us. Although we didn't need the service they can organise drivers/ taxis for you and there is accommodation for drivers in the garden. They can also recommend tours/ massages etc. The food is fantastic and it's nice to sit and eat with others, they do veg and non-veg and are very flexible if you tell them what you like- we like spicy so they cooked a spicy one for us on the second night. Id read on trip advisor before hand that dinner wasn't included in the price, but it wasn't actually said, I was more than happy to pay ( it was around r 150 each, which is a total bargain!) but as its a home stay and there aren't restaurants nearby it would be best to include in the price of the room and offer an opt-out. It's at the pricier end of the market for a home stay but it's not unreasonable - you get what you pay for.

Rose garden is a very pleasant place to stay in munnar. It's not located in the city itself, but the city is not so beautiful, no it's not a problem. Tomy is very good in organizing interesting day tours. The whole family is very nice and welcoming. The cooking in one of the best we ate in South India. The garden is very interesting. One thing to say : the road on which the house is located is very busy, so walking from home is not obvious.

Room Tip: Facing directly the garden

I have spent 2 days in Munnar in Tomy homestay. I have been welcome wonderfully by him and his family who showed me the whole property and the garden. From the youngest of the three boys, every member of the family knows perfectly about each plant and spice grown up in the garden. It is a delighted to visit it.
My room was big and warmly decorated. The house is on the way of the buses road and stop us in front of the house. Very convenience. I learn Tomy´s wife how to make chappathi.
Very good Homestay.

At the same time a cozy visit with the family, and a peaceful stay in really nice surroundings. We were welcomed by the family and got lovely food and nice, interesting tour in the garden/nursery, as well as ideas for various tours in the area. It was very nice and interesting to talk with Tomy on India and Kerala in particular and nice to be with the whole family and we got at instructive visit to the kitchen. So; the greatest recommendation from us (two adults and daughter aged 16) from Denmark.

Rose gardens is in a lovely setting with a garden full of interesting and edible plants. Tommy and his family are delightful and the food is great. Rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were comfy. Close to the tea estates and a lovely walk with a waterfall swim.
