We stayed in RoseGarden in January. We enjoyed the arm hospitality, were taken by their sweet, welleducated son to a nice tour in the tea plantation, and by Tomy to a guided tour inhislovelybotanic garden. We enjoyed their excelent food, and were invited ti the kitchen to learn how to cook it.. Every request we had was met willingly. We had the nice feeling of staying with a very warm, hospitable indian family in a very beautiful erea. Thanks Tommy and family for giving us such a good time!

We visited Munnar, India recently and stayed at the Rose Garden Homestay for a couple of days. We were greeting by Tomy the owner and his wife Rajee on our arrival. During breakfast we had the most rich and bold coffee we had ever tasted. We are so used to the Starbucks and Coffee Beans in the US that we didn't realize how coffee was really supposed to taste. We later learned that they grow their own coffee beans in their backyard, roast and grind them themselves. They have a huge garden/farm in their backyard with everything from pepper trees to passion fruit trees, cloves, and even a nursery of plants and flowers. After breakfast Rajee asked us what we would like to eat and later saw her picking from the backyard and starting our next meal to prepare when we return from our trip to the tea plantations. We can not even begin to explain how hospitable this family is. They are very attentive and caring, you would think we were relatives visiting. Tomy gave us a wonderful tour around town and made sure we experienced everything that Munnar had to offer. We highly recommend Rose Gardens Homestay!

Really enjoyed our three night stay.It was tottally beyond our expectations.
Perfect hosts, very welcomming & helpful and lovely lively children.
Wondrful spacious accomodation, clean, fresh and friendly
The place is set in a beautiful organic farm/nursery in a rural area, yet close to all ammenities. You get to pick your own menu for the most delicious home cooked dinner.
Had a great relaxing time.
Also if you are planning to tour around, I would also recomend ashish the friendly and safe driver who works in partnership with the family.

I must admit I was in love with Tomy and Raji long before I ever met them. I had picked this homestay because of the possiblity of taking cooking lessons with Raji and hiking through the tea plantations with Tomy and had asked about these two things when I first wrote to Tomy. He responded immediately to all my emails with lots of excellent information about area and I felt like we'd made a friend long before we met. Everything he promised was delivered perfectly. The rooms were large and spotless, with beautiful white linen bedsheets and a bathroom as beautiful as everyone has said. Tomy suggested a walk up the road to view sunset from a lookout point which was a tiny cafe with lovely cardamon tea which became our sunset ritual for the 3 nights we were there. We also went there in the early morning light before breakfast. If you look over the ledge you get to observe the monkeys that live there in their natural habitat and provide endless moments of entertainment.

The food was wonderful and Raji was amazing, welcoming so many people into her kitchen and letting us try things while giving recipes, answering questions and completing dishes for morning or evening meals, without being distracted by the din of our converstaions. Raji, we have made Rosegarden Cabbage, potato curry and rice pullar for our friends and now they are raving about your cooking as well.

Our hike through the tea plantation with Tomy was breathtaking culminating in a dip in the waterfall which was truly refreshing. I had to keep pinching myself as I couldn't believe what I had planned so many months ago was even more enjoyable than I had anticipated.

The rose garden gave the feel of an english garden to the entrance of the house and Tomy grows everything from cacao to coffee. I must say his was the best coffee we had on our trip. He even gave us a package as a farewell gift.

Their sons are friendly, warm and helpful and all the guests were lovely as well, which added to the experience as we spent mealtimes together around their imposing dining room table laughing and talking. This homestay is close enough to enjoy Munnar whenever you want and far enough away so that it is quiet, peaceful and filled with clean air.

We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Rose gardeb is a real family homestay, all teh reviews you read here that say its a great place to stay are true. Tomy and his family were great hosts. Tomy was the host and his wife Raje did the wonderful cooking. The food was the best part of this homestay.
The room was clean and comfortable but a bit noisy as it was at the front of the house. Try to get a room at the back.
Tomy is a great gardener and he will delight in showing you round – worth the time.
Whilst not in Munnar its only a short bus ride away and Tomy knows the times of the bus and makes sure it stops for you. Just up the hill is a lookout for sunsets. Munnar is an attractive hill station, worth a stay of 2 days at least.
Would definately recommend this to other travellers.
