Not sure what the point of getting out here was but we were encouraged to do so by our driver. To be honest 'boating' on the dam is not the highlight of Munnar and nor is it environmentally friendly (speed boating!).

We took a long ride to the dam, got out of the car and a minute later were back in it, driving to the hotel. I don't understand why would anyone want to come here - unless they've never seen a lake in their lives. The dam was built in 1953 and is just a simple, ugly dam. The lake is nice enough, if you can ignore the piles of trash thrown on the banks of it and cheap stalls selling all kinds of food and plastic toys (even some Chinese souvenirs!) that line the road by the dam itself.
Use your time in Munnar better, don't waste it on this! Go hike through the beautiful tea plantations instead...

Just another point! nothing great about it. Good place to click photos, relax or go on picnic or group outing.

There was hardly any any water . One could see the gates closely . However in absence of water it was very ordinary experience.
