this museum is a must visit if you want to see how tea is made and packed. there is one small 10 minutes session also where they tell the benefits of tea and how to make tea. we bought green tea and cardamom tea also from the museum.

Here you get to see a video about the history of kanan Devan tea estate and some old equipments that were used previously to prepare tea out of the tea leaves. Also, the tea preparation procedure using the various equipments is shown even though it is not a live demo. You can just see the machines running without the tea leaves. There is free cardamom tea available for the guests, but I did not find it very tasty. You can also buy various flavours of tea from the factory outlet here. Ticket amount per head is RS 75.

Well worth starting your trip to Munnar here. As others have said it's not a big place but the working exhibits and the 30 minute video give one a good insight into tea and it's production locally. The included cuppa at the end is very welcome too!!

We went to the tea museum as part of an arranged trip to Munnar. The tea thy gave us on arrival was DELICIOUS. The museum is quite small an really not a big part of the visit so the name is a bit deceptive. They show you a movie which is interesting but I am sure the story is buttered up to for a marketing scheme. There was a talk after the movie (average) and them you see the machines making the tea leaves which leads you directly to the shop.
They rush you through the 'museum' so we didn't actually get to see any of it.
We enjoyed the visit after a long day of driving and we got some tea which I am sure won't be as good as theirs but we shall see when we get home...
