“Superb Tour and Stay”
Reviewed August 1, 2013

We visited Munnar last October. Our driver Augustine was a great guide, stopping to show us waterfalls and sights. The highlight was seeing a herd of wild elephants with their calves grazing in a meadow. The house is in a fantastic location overlooking green valleys and the town far below. Food cooked by Robin and a cup of chai in the evening was great as were conversations with other guests from around the world at breakfast and dinner. Excellent service, great value, highly recommended.

We made a wonderful trip with our friendly driver and guide Raju from Misty Green View by Stanley Wilson from Kochi to Munnar. Elephant bathing was amazing, tea museum and spices garden interesting and marvellous views in the mountains. Next day walking in the tea and cardamon plantations, also a great experience. During the rainy season, don't forget your umbrella! Raju is a good and careful driver so don't be afraid on the slippery mountain roads.

My husband and I booked the Green Magic tour through Wilson Tours (in Kochi) and we very pleasantly surprised. The pictures just do not do the place justice. Munnar is a must see and I am so happy we experienced it. Definitely hike to the top station! It is one of the best views I have ever seen and we travel a lot.

The one-man staff (Robin) at Misty Green will greet you with a big smile! He is very polite and helpful. He is the chef there and a really good one! We enjoyed his curries a lot!

I would suggest for you to ask to stay in the two rooms on the main floor as they have an amazing view! There is a big balcony on both floors with the amazing view, so it is not a necessity.

We visited the Misty Green during Monsoon season (July) so it rained quite a bit (most heavily during the night), so this made the place very humid. I would suggest to bring one of those camping towels that dry quickly because our towel (or anything) did not dry over night or actually over a 24 hour period.

We do still recommend seeing Munnar during the rainy season as it was so lush and green. There were probably thousands of little waterfalls flowing through the mountains, which was an amazing site to see. Since you also get a driver, you always have the option to wait out the rain in the car. Usually it rains heavy for a little bit and then it sprinkles or is done. It wasn't a pain at all and actually kind of a great experience.

The only thing we would have liked was to get to know Robin more and actually sat down with him at dinner time. Since Indian hospitality is so high, just expect to be served and then given your space at the Misty Green. Since Munnar and the Misty Green seemed so relaxed, we were a bit surprised by that the first night.

Lastly, I would like to express how happy we were with our driver, Justin. He acted almost like a tour guide answering all of our questions and knows a lot about Kerala and Munnar. He is also such a calm person and driver. We felt very safe with him even on the tiny windy roads.

First off, in my opinion, Munnar is one of the most beautiful places that I have ever visited in my life!!

I booked a 2 days 1 night tour with wilsoncochintours based on the raving reviews about Misty Green View on tripadvisor! Right from the beginning of our correspondence through email, Stanley (the owner of wilsoncochintours and Misty Green View) has been so patient and yielding to the numerous requests that I had such as changes in the itinerary as well as choices of the rooms!

My friends and I arrived in Ernakulam Town after a tiring 13 hours KSRTC bus journey from Bangalore and we were received by the smiles of our drivers Shajahan and Raju! They had packed breakfast (toast and omelette) for us and it was (unfortunately) another 4 hours of car journey to Munnar. Honestly, the trip would have been superb without all these long hours of travelling, but it is inevitable and made more enjoyable with the hospitality of our drivers. They pointed out to the various attractions along the way (like wild elephants!!!) and were also very patient with us whenever we got out of the car to visit the attraction. In total, we visited two waterfalls, a spice garden, Munnar tea gardens (which is right outside of Misty Green View), Madupetty Dam, Echo Point and Top station (I did not want to visit the elephant camp as stated in the itinerary so I changed it to top station and it was so worth it!).

This 2 days tour was definitely made even more awesome with the stay at Misty Green View because the guesthouse was recently renovated and EVERYTHING was so clean, comfortable and beautiful! It really felt like a home because we were served with such a delicious home-cooked dinner with candle-lights (fancy!) and breakfast with my favourite mango juice! And the view from Misty Green was literally like heaven on Earth! The beauty of the mountains, the greenery of the tea gardens, the mystery of the mist, the chill of the winds, it was just breath-taking. And you gotta see it for yourself to appreciate the beauty because I feel that words and photographs do no justice!

Our drivers (Shajahan and Raju) and our chef (Robin) were absolutely service-oriented and they make it a point to make our trip enjoyable and memorable because they constantly checked if we liked the food/places that we visited. This trip costs me a total of 3000 rupees for 2 days and 1 night and I would definitely come back to Munnar for a longer trip with wilsoncochintours!!

Oh yes, and despite the fact that July is the monsoon season in Munnar, the rain did not spoil our trip at all, it only enhanced the beauty of the greenery and the waterfalls (: Lucky for us, the rain comes and goes very quickly!

I have extensively searched for a good resort in Munnar all over net including tripadvisor and accidentally came across Misty Green View by Wilson Tours. The fact that they give car, accommodation and sight seeing in a single package led me to choose wilson tours... I had a memorable and fantastic experience in Kerala and am very happy and extremely satisfied by choosing their package...

Summary:
1. Good Car with an extremely friendly, humble, knowledgeable and caring Driver, JUSTINE..
2. Sight seeing across all possible places on way from Kochi to Munnar...(Elephants, Spice Farm, Water Falls, etc.)..
3. Small but Beautiful Hotel Accommodation (Misty Green View) with an awesome view from the balcony.... I could feel the essence of the whole of munnar right from the balcony (Hills/Valleys/Tea Estates/Clouds)...
4. Fresh, Homely and Delicious Food...
5. The whole package with genuinely friendly staff at very affordable price..

This hotel is not a big commercial kind of resort....

It is a small, simple and very beautiful place with good food and caring staff.

My impression of Mr. Wilson .... Though he is running business he is not at all commercial. He is highly service motivated and wants to give the best of Kerala to the Tourists. He is highly accommodative and ultimately wants his Tourists to be completely satisfied.

Room Tip: Choose a room in top floor which has a common balcony with an astonishing view of the Munnar hills...

My husband and I signed up for the 3 day, 2 night tour through Wilson Tours, from Kochi to Munnar, staying at the Misty Green View. We met Stanley at his office in Kochi. He was a very nice man, and gave us a lot of great information about our tour, and time in India. We left super early in the morning on the first day of our tour. We were given breakfast on the go, an omelette and toast, but we passed on the omelette as it had sat in the car for 3 hours before we were offered it. Our first stop was a river where the elephants were supposed to come and bathe. After waiting about 30 minutes for the elephants (and not seeing them), we went to another location that was more like an elephant camp. We were there for about 10 minutes, we saw elephants, but we were yelled at when trying to take any pictures of them. We clearly were not very welcome there. After our quick 10 minutes there we began our drive to Munnar. We were to stay at the Mistry Green View, and when we booked our tour we were told that there were two Misty Green Views, and one was being painted, so we would be at the second one. The one we stayed at clearly was not what was shown in the pictures. It was a large house in the middle of a small village. Our room was small, it had a balcony, which we were told would be a superb view. True, it had a view of the mountains but directly below us were village homes, and people living in poverty, using the outside as their bathroom, and that was our view from our room. The bathroom in our room did not have a screen on the window which was difficult at night as the bugs kept coming in. No wi-fi at all, (but we were not expecting it), and small tv with very few channels. The cook, Dasan, was great, he made good meals and we enjoyed his company very much. Our dining area was nothing like other pictures I have seen on the Misty Green View site, we had a plastic table next to a TV. We were the only guests at this house. Nothing special at all. We were very disappointed that we were not staying at the Misty Green View that was shown in all the pictures. One of the reasons we booked this tour was to stay at the Misty Green View. The rest of our tour our driver Rajur kept us busy, taking us to many places. Our driver spoke some English, and we did pretty good. Our one complaint was that he always drove with the windows open, never used the AC. We were in India the hottest time of the year, it was hot!
