Our family had stayed at the Wild Elephant Eco Friendly resort at Munnar in May 2013 and we had a memorable vacation here. Right from the time of booking till the time I left the property there was always this 'good feel'. The location is great with amazing views of the surrounding hills and the waterfall. The swimming pool is awesome! The place was quite, relaxing and refreshing and we spent some wonderful time just taking in the beauty and peace of the surroundings. We made a trip to the elephant camp and apart from riding atop the elephant, my son enjoyed a bath by the elephant while seated on its back! A short walk of about 15 minutes took us to the nearby waterfall and we had a wonderful time in the cool refreshing waters! The staff at the resort were very helpful and friendly. Food was great and we had a wonderful campfire as well during one of the evenings! Special thanks to Mr. Anil, the manager, who ensured our comfort during the stay and also took care of guiding us around the place. In all it was a wonderful trip and we just loved being there!

Room Tip: Try the cottage - Its great

Dear Friends,

Wish to share my memorable experience driving with family to
"Munnar's 'awesome' Wild elephant ECO friendly resort" in may 2013.

located about 22 kms away from munnar town, is a perfect place for a recharge from the mundane lifestyles of today.

The courteous staff , the quiet ambience and lush green facility which overlooks a hill on one side, a valley on the other and a beautiful waterfall which can be seen from the resort.

Living atop the tree house type cottage was a new experience where one wakes up to see greenery , wilderness and the waterfall at a distance.

The walk across the road to the waterfall too is rejuvenating...and the waterfall , breathtaking...
with occasionally passing vehicles' emissions, reminding us of going back to our city lives to breathe carbon mono oxides again....

My drive to the resort is also worth a mention with no sign boards - initially , was a little disappointing but the winding roads kept up our excitement and to finish the excitement was the wonderful hairpin bend leading us into the car parking of the resort.

The customers are all regular , planned ones and not the usual walk in kinds.

The breakfast of Poori bhajis, bread toast and upmas, though , not a buffet, is repeated ,
but enjoyable due to their courteous staffs.

Not to mention the resort manager Mr.Anil 's hospitaility as well as the MD Mr.Seetharaman's follow up made our stay comfortable and memorable.

With no TVs this place is surely a perfect recharger and rejuvenator from mundane life.

a must visit.....

regards

Sridhar, Chennai

Room Tip: tree house cottage , own transport preferred....

The best climate of my Kerala trip was here. Wild Elephant is based at a excellent location, away from the crowd and the city. You won't have access to the market etc & can peacefully enjoy your private vacation here. The food is good although it gets repeated due to less options. Munna and the other staff are extremely humble and will make sure to provide you all the service you want. The pool is not too clean ( insects keep falling in every night, so its hard ) but looking at the climate here you would hardly want to use it. The waterfall nearby is good, Munna took us there one day. Mr. Anil is a nice person and makes sure to give you appropriate service. He even arranged fish curry for us one day for which he had to take additional efforts but he made sure to get it. The cab driver Shiju brought us payasam one day when he came to know that we like it, it was so kind of him. He showed us his house which is on the way and we also met his family. Overall, I think it is a good experience being here, although still I would really like to see the pool clean and electricity during the day. It is very tough at such remote and high altitude locations and one should realize that staff tries their best to give you this, but you need to compromise a little and the reward you get is the wonderful time in the natures beauty. Amazing location.

an exotic location for a pleasant stay with an out of the world experience, disturbed only by the chirp of birds, and an occasional car/jeep.very cooperative and helpful staff. since the resort is located about 9km off the main road it is most suited for people having their own modes of transport. we spent 3 nights/4 days at this place during may 2013, and i can't find words to describe my experience, away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a really cool place to relax.

Room Tip: select rooms that overlook the waterfalls nearby, and facing the pool.

If Kerala is known as "God's own Country", then this is the place which truly describes it........
Awesome location, beautiful, peaceful place surrounded by amazing tea plantations & hills.....words will be less to describe the actual beauty of the resort, if you really want to enjoy the serene beauty of Nature then this can be the best option in Munnar.....especially loves the Sunrise & Sunset......Staff was very courteous & would be ready to help anytime.....the only drawback which I found was the location, its a little away from the main city & makes it a bit difficult if you want to visit the city often.......

Lovely week long stay with friends. Located in a really peaceful valley a way from busier Munnar centre. Nice food and lovely staff. Great rooms!
If you are on a budget be careful to check prices before agreeing to things such as the first day elephant ride - 300inr for the elephant ride, plus 800inr to be driven there by the hotel.
Otherwise, very accommodating.
450inr for autorickshaw to Munnar visitor centre. 800inr in jeep.
Thanks wild elephant for a relaxing week.

Wild elephant eco-friendly resort is located in a very beautiful, peaceful place, surrounded by most amazing tea plantations, old trees and green hills. We were four guests ( New Zaeland, Russia, Ukraie and Turkey) staying for 5 nights in the two-leaf cottage with the most beautiful veranda ever.
The cottage is nice and I would say quiet fashioned and we enjoyed sleeping there despite mosquitos.
The staff was good, special thank to Manu, who was very efficient as well as Anil, who arranged some interesting things to us. Although there is one little remark which we all found relevant. It is necessary to say the prices of all these activities before you arrange it or have a printed list of these so that guests can freely choose what they want and know the price. This will definitely simplify your work and also relationships between guests and hotel as guests will definitely know what they are charged and for what.
Food was simple but delicious and we felt that it was home-made so we ate almost all the time at the hotel. And off course Banana leafs!!!!!! Hit! We liked it a lot!
As for the swimming pool it was not the most cleanest swimming I have ever seen but we still enjoyed it a lot after a hot day and the feeling from swimming and observing the amazing view was really great. I think just a little effort and the swimming pool can be clean as whistle.
So I would definitely recommend it to my other friends from Russia and from the rest of the world.

Room Tip: Cottages are definately better than the rooms especially two-leaf cottage with beautiful veranda.
