My friend and I just stayed 4 days there, it was a bumpy ride up but it is beautiful once you get there , when we first arrived the manager Anil , who by the way is the only one who speaks English and is gone from about 10 am to 3 pm everyday took us on a trek to the nearby waterfall, he brought beer and drank it with us then of course ended up charging us for it on our final bill even though we didn't ask for it or offer it to him. He then preceded to shamelessly hit on my friend and insisted on massaging her , then asked her to kiss him on the lips. She laughed and said " no way". Trying to make light of the situation. We didn't know what to make of this and at the time we didn't realize he managed the entire place! Our room was nice the food was decent but none of the wait staff spoke English and often brought us the wrong food and brought us extra food we didn't order and charged us for it of course , they didn't even know the word "menu" basic English words and even with us pointing to what we wanted they would get it wrong. We also later found out Anil was married of course because his phone went off and said "my sweet wife" as the ring tone. We also asked him to help us find a place in Varkala to stay and was not helpful saying everything was full... We felt like he was trying to keep us there. We luckily ended up finding a place on our own . Then the driver he arranged for us who seemed fine at first got lost on the way to Varkala for a good hour or 2 and then also tried to hit on us by poking our stomachs asking if we had to pee then telling us to poke his because he had to pee to which i yelled , " yes, we believe you, go pee! we dont have to so stop touching us !" he pulled over and peed next to the car on the side of the road, he is also married by the way, then he was grabbing our hair which maybe in some places is sort of a normal way of "harmless flirting" but what I was told after was that in India any contact between an unmarried man and woman is considered extremely inappropriate. I told him to STOP because I was seriously annoyed at this point but just glad to be at a new hotel. Then, he asked when we got to our next hotel if he could stay in and sleep with us in our room! We were appalled along with the women who ran the resort and we all said no and assumed he left after we walked off and went to eat at a local restaurant. When we came back about 90 mins later that night we saw someone standing in the road outside our hotel and as we got closer realized the driver was still there! He was drunk and begging us to let him stay , we said no, ran off and locked our door and attempted to sleep , we heard knocking on some doors near us and assumed it was him trying to find us, luckily he was drunk enough and didn't find us. He was gone by morning. So yes the place is beautiful and if you are in a group or with a man I'm sure your experience will be fine but for 2 girls it was pretty sketchy, I guess since we both said we were not married it made us free game to these guys even though my friend is engaged and I have a boyfriend, 2 terms they don't understand here in India. And also a subject we were repeatedly asked about and told " it's a problem " by Anil ( who by the way talks extremely fast and is difficult to understand)..ooh and also that we don't have kids is a "problem" but I guess trying to cheat on your wife with tourists is "not a problem" ...?

We could not respond immediately because had initiated an inquiry on the issue including possible disciplinary action however we also observed that guests who stayed during the same dates when you stayed have given excellent reviews and they too were foreigners ( Maria and Oscar). While we regret any inconvenience caused we request your sincere unbiased opinions which would help us improve the level of service and hospitality

tucked away from milling crowd, but close enough to reach, this place offers you a slice of nature. For me and my friends, it was like a cool retreat from the maddening life of metro. The place is set amidst beautiful landscapes and you got killing views from all sides. We had an extra advantage as one of our friend learned swimming in two days.:-))Thanks to the pool

the resort is very well located capturing one of the best views one could get... the pool facing the valley is extremely relaxing and hence one of my favorites... the service was pretty decent with food being served near the pool during day time and next to a bonfire by evening... it is a perfect place to be for a pleasant and peaceful vacation spending alone or with family or friends... one could also venture around the resort to find these small fresh water streams and water falls... to sum it up all i would like to say that the stay at "Wild elephant resort, Munnar" was absolutely refreshing and reviving...

I found this resort here....Whole trip was painful coz of this...I knew it was located at the outskirt of town, I wanted to have a peaceful trip...I checked all the details via phone before commiting...When I reached the resort in morning, i was shocked to see how dirty it was..plastic bottles, cig packets, beer bottles, remains of campfire...

The room was okay, except cats will run above your roof in night and some rats under your cot...You cannot sleep peacefully in any rooms here..

Swimming pool took 2 days to fill and they took 1 day to clean...So, I cannot even touch the pool water. When I enquired about the pool bePlease do not believe the photos posted...

The water falls close to the resort is the only one attract.

Room Tip: 100s of better resorts are there in Munnar...We were fooled by the photos...

While we are always open to constructive criticism and correction, we would like to humbly submit that this review is totally biased and incorrect and to some extent malicious. The guest was under the impression that the resort is located in proper Munnar town which is not the case as we cannot have Natural beauty like this in the proper town area. We cannot change the distance of the resort from Munnar even if we wished to do so. As far as the pool is concerned the same was being serviced at the time when the guest arrived and was put to operation immediately. All other issues which are addressed are a fall out of the above. We believe that the good impression of our guests is the only reward we seek and there are several reviews which endorse our service and our integrity.

Had been to this place almost a year back in Feb 2012 with my wife and this place had got such a nice valley view ... and good food. The swimming pool at the top is the eye catcher in this resort. its got a water fall close by and the place is surrounded with green tea estates... the approach was a little bad back then but there were working on the road already then i am sure it must be done already.
