This is a good example of how media hype can fool people. It is so easy to take tourists for a ride. Avoid this place unless you have high level contacts and can arrange something special. There are limited number of open jeeps allowed once in the morning and once in the afternoon. There is a long queue for passes. We couldn't get in the morning and spent the whole day there to get passes in the afternoon. We didn't see any lion and no one else in other jeeps did either. We were rather lucky to have a glimpse of a leopard. It is very dry place and roads are dusty. With so many open jeeps you get completely covered by dust. It is time consuming and costly without any value. Better spend time at the Somnath temple. Naam bada Darshan thoda.

Saw two -three lions in the early morning jeep safari. trip was well organised. guide was well conversant with route, however, he too was excited on seeing lions. tracks are full of dust and tourists should cover their face well to avoid dust pollution. be ready to take a bath after the trip to clean urself of the dust. bad part of it. wear good warm clothing during winter in the early morning trip. Bad part is getting entry permit since one has to que up from midnight to beat the trip quota even at the cost of touts who are operating freely.

we went to devaliy after crossing Gir forest. Our taxi driver was knowing this place. After filling forms and we took window sit at but in morning hours. Lucky to see lions and one panther in hunting mood. It was so amazing to see panther in that position. Spotting lion in gir national park will be luck. But devaliya you will get chance to see them.

If you are going to Gujarat and not visiting Sasan Gir forest, your trip is incomplete. However be aware about timings & day. Wednesday is off at Devria and if we miss 9:30AM morning trip then it is only 3:30PM which will spoil the whole day.

However with family, kids and alone, whatever those who love nature, creatures, this place is worth to see. If it is summer time, take benefit to stay in mangos farms and enjoy the taste of delicious mangoes while going to Gir National park.
