“The highest fort”
Review of Uperkot Fort

Uperkot Fort
Ranked #9 of 40 things to do in Junagadh

Reviewed 4 weeks ago

Well this is called the uperkot fort because of its location "upar" means high up. This fort was build on a higher land in junagadh. The history of the fort is really mesmerizing. The buddhist caves inside are a must see. You will wonder ho in old days they used to store grains, water and during war times how they think for protection. I took a guide with me and he was really very informative and thus i could learn a lot about this fort.

Horrible but this is the reality of our country, as most of the historical places in our country is ruined by the government of our states everybody blame to another but not taking the proper action to save our historical places very disappointed don't go there waste of time

Situated inside Junagarh town, this fort is claimed to be constructed in the Mauryan era, the step well and the granary are amazing as is the view of Grinar hills. It is worth hiring a local guide when you visit( Cost Rs 200 for the entire fort)

It's located on a very high altitude, the place is clean , quite serene and nicely maintained , you get a guide here as well , it's not faraway and located in main city so no issues in terms of travel.Place has a lot of history to see .You need to visit this once atleast if you are in Junagadh
