Location: In the heart of Fountainhas just off NH17, walking distance from the pier. Great place to stay if you want to walk around the old neighborhood of Panjim, walk to the pier for the evening cruise and dine at one of the traditional Goanese-Portuguese restaurants in Fountainhas.

Ambience & decor: They have 3 sister properties of which Panjim Inn is the one where they run the administrative office + restaurant. It's a charming old building which is romantically furnished with period Portuguese furniture. The bedroom had lavish and genuine period furniture, and was very comfortable with all the modern facilities. Very clean and comfortable.

Food: Delightful balcony bar/restaurant overlooking the entryway and street. The breakfast is very good - nice mix of Indian and Continental to appeal to a broad range of clients, and the ingredients were very fresh as well.

Service: Very friendly staff - immediately offered every bit of help imaginable, whether you ask (photocopied map of Fountainhas) or not (free upgrade to better Panjim People's room).

One of the best quaint hotels I've stayed at.

I stayed with my family for 2 nights & 3 days. I reached early before my checkin, but staff at reception was quite helpful and immediately after initial formalities, they provided us the key. Room and ambience was nice. Furniture and facilities in the room were nice.

Breakfast was complementary with my package and worth. Staff of the hotel was quite helpful and service of the hotel was excellent.

My stay with my family was nice one.

Room Tip: There was no swimming room and gym.

The Panjim Inn is part of a 3-building group including the Pousada and the People’s branches of this hotel. We stayed at the Panjim Inn, which seemed to be the budget branch, at 2700 INR per night. It’s a cute red building, characteristic of Panjim architecture. We arrived late-ish at night, and were greeted with friendly if not particularly speedy service.

Our room on the 3rd floor (walking up) smelled faintly of a wet cat, but was dramatically improved by opening the windows which looked out onto a quiet street, and letting in some night air. The room was furnished with a 4-poster bed, a flatscreen tv (view of the screen was blocked by the bedposts/curtains, kind of odd), a vanity, and a bistro table and 2 chairs. The bathroom was pretty basic, but we did get a decent shower the next morning. The room seemed fairly clean, if a little worn around the edges. They did have a binder of information on Panjim and Goa, and a number of clearly-outlined walks that you could do in Panjim and Old Goa to see the sites – these were helpful and quite entertaining to flip through!

Breakfast the next morning was ample but sad. I’d avoid most of the buffet items and ask for an omelette instead! They played some really odd music that was a cross between Xmas music and carnival music – pretty depressing. But at the end of the day, breakfast was included and we didn’t get sick or anything.

Not a bad place to stay, but not what I’d call “value for money” – we’ve stayed in much nicer and more charming places for less! I wouldn't go back.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the charms of our heritage hotel and found the information in our Directory of Services useful.Furnished with genuine period furniture , contemporary Goan art and memorabilia our rooms and surrounding spaces exude an old world charm which coupled with all standard modern amenities make for a comfortable stay . I believe our breakfast , comprising of tea,coffee,2 fresh juices, choice of eggs, porridge, fresh fruits, two more continental items and two Indian Items is both hearty and fresh . However,I do apologise that the experience was not up to your expectations. We value our guests’comments and have discussed the points you have made with our team for remedial action.

We didn't stay overnight here, just stopped for lunch one day. What a gorgeous old building: the atmosphere was the best thing about it, and the quiet. Explored all the rooms with old Portuguese furniture...and oh yes, the food was good too. The streets outside have lots of similar old buildings which kept our cameras busy. There's also a new store selling locally-made ceramic and glassware on the same street whose name escapes me, we bought a couple of keepsakes there. Well worth a stop to escape the general chaos of Panjim and reconnect with it's past.

The hotel is a beautiful old building with all its bedrooms and public areas beautifully and romantically furnished with old Portuguese pieces and fittings. Extremely clean and comfortable. The small balcony bar/restaurant above the courtyard is delightful. Staff are lovely and friendly - and everything is run very efficiently by the manager and maitre d. One of the lovliest hotels I've stayed at in many years of travelling. Got an unasked for upgrade too!

Room Tip: All the rooms are lovely - the main road below can be busy but no problem.

Stayed here as a couple for one night in August. I think perhaps we expected more because of the high ranking on Tripadvisor, but we were a bit disappointed. The hotel is actually part of a complex of old buildings on the block which also includes the Panjim Peoples hotel (there's another entry on Tripadvisor for that hotel). The interior is a bit dark but has interesting antique furnishings.

The most important things to know are:
1) Bed is hard but otherwise fine.
2) Cleanliness level is not great, but we didn't come across anything blatant that would make it seem especially gross.
3) Breakfast buffet is pretty sad, but there are decent omelettes so you won't go hungry.
4) A/C and hot water in room works well.
5) Rooms are pretty shabby, definitely feels like you're in an old house with used bed-sheets, towels, etc.
6) Auto-rickshaws and government cabs are available just outside the hotel (so you won't have to worry about transportation). The hotel is about 30-45 minute drive from the airport.

Overall, it's an acceptable, inexpensive place to stay for one night, but I wouldn't plan on staying longer. Was not an especially memorable experience and not at all romantic, but a decent location from which to explore Panaji and Old Goa.

This hotel takes us to a different era. The hotel has maintained its heritage style in every aspect...right from its verandas, room decor to its menu card. The location of this hotel is excellent as it is very calm and peaceful around but also 10 mins away( walk) from Panaji market. The hotel is clean, has a co-operating and a warm staff. It serves very good food with an amazing dining area. Rooms are very well maintained. They are spacious and airy. Personal attention from the owner is also experienced here. This was the second time we have stayed here.
Another special thing about the hotel is the beautiful gallery it has called 'vellah goa' at the ground floor where there are beautiful hand painted tile varieties and other artifacts. You just cannot leave the gallery without shopping there.
