If you are looking for good goan food while in Panaji , this is a must visit . The ambience is not much to talk about . Downstairs is the open area facing the church and the road while upstairs is the a/c section which is a good option if you are visiting in summer .
The USP is the tasty food and the reasonable prices . I liked the pork admas with bread ( served on saturday nights ) and the chicken pulao . The beef dishes and prawn curry is also excellent . If you like some chinese , you will be pleasantly suprised with the triple fried rice .
the atmosphere is relaxed and one can leisurely down a couple of drinks listening to the music or gazing at the busy street outside . On rainy days , one can admire the raindrops .

The food is superb. The ambience is so Goan, if you want to hear the latest gossip, sip a beer, eat the chorizo pulao and keep your ears open... Their beef and pork dishes are excellent.

In my quest for good Goan food in Panjim, I came to George restaurant. The restaurant is at Church square just across from the Church of Immaculate Conception.
The restaurant is simple. The seating area upstairs is air conditioned but the ambiance is not very Goan and has no windows and you feel all boxed in. Downstairs is not air conditioned but has it's own old style Goan restaurant charm.
I asked for some Beef soup but was told it always gets sold out at lunch, as do the Beef Croquettes. I tried some Beef Tongue Roast which was ok, Squid masala fry, also ok and Prawn Balchao which was very nice.
On the menu there were other interesting sounding dishes like Goa Sausage pulao, Pork Sorpotel, Beef Xacuti, Pork Vindalho, and a few more.

On every trip to Goa we make it a point to have as many meals as possible at this restaurant. A MUST HAVE is their signature dish: the sausage pulao. Its really quite a simple dish comprising good rice and yummy chorizos. Apart from this the fish recheiado is a Goan specialty. Made with mackerels stuffedin their special tangy masala. The beef masala fry is worth having as well. The soups are good too.
The only shortcoming is the size of the place! It definitely requires addition of space so that guests do not have to wait for their turn.
