“A GOOD GTDC HOTEL”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

a very nice and well located hotel. connectivity to both south as well as to north goa is great. panaji market is very close. miramaar beach is just 2 min walking distance. stayed in a cottage on the upper floor. view from the balcony was superb, could see sea through the palm trees, as well as the swimming pool. dauna-paula is also very close. even the river cruise is near to the hotel. food land restaurant is excellent. also try forest restaurant (only veg). excellent food. very happy with the hotel stay.

I have been a regular visitor to the Foodland restaurant for the last 8 years or so. The food is just amazingly tasty here - both veg and non-veg. The taste, quality and quantity are in plenty in every dish. Something as simple as daal tadka also tastes great here. Service is prompt and the staff is friendly. Location is awesome (its next to the Miramar beach), you can go for a stroll on the beach post dinner.

Overall a very fulfilling experience at an affordable price.

This property comes under GTDC and frankly speaking I was little afraid of booking a government owned hotel , but when I reached there in some time only I got to know that my decision was not wrong. Location of this hotel is excellent , nearby to Miramar beach (hardly 2 mins walk). All rooms have nice view and good ambiance. I will like to share one thing that the cleanness of whole hotel and hygiene level was excellent. The best part of our stay was the food offered by the hotel , they have a open air restaurant , we tried many type of vegetarian options and all option were excellent .

Initially I had a fear to book in the GTDC online website due to its looks and browser errors, but finally booked without any hassles. On arrival, the staff were prompt and took me to the room without wasting any time and formalities. The restaurant is excellent with lots of cuisines and several options. The breakfast buffet was also superb. The room service was also good but they charge a lot of tax for example a Rs.15 water bottle may cost around Rs.35 or so. But in GOA, we are here to venture out and enjoy the beaches rather than sitting in a room and ordering food ! The beach is nearby and within 2mins walk. There is a bus stand opposite to the hotel and we can get several buses to different places like panjim or ponda etc. There is an auto and taxi stand next to the bus stop as well. Overall the service was good and I was quite satisfied.

Stayed here this October, took some time to put up this review. Nice place to stay, just a few steps away from the calm Miramar beach. Away from the crowded destinations of the city. Has a car/ bike rental place within the residency campus. The suites are well maintained, very clean and quiet. A must have is the chat in the beachside carts right opposite to the residency, probably the tastiest I have had in the recent times.

There residency is right between Panjim City and Dona Paula. Ideal place for stay. Amazing connectivity to the city as well by bus in case you do not want to hire a car/ bike for a small trip.In fact bus is the cheapest and best transport from Miramar and Panjim/ Dona Paula.

Also do not miss the Goa Science Center which is close by really nice place and very informative.

I loved the ambiance. Its far away from rest of the crowded places in Goa. Its location makes it so convenient to travel towards North as well as to South Goa very easily, in less time. Very peaceful even in mid December. The area around is safe and quiet. The Miramar beach is just opposite to the residency and its one of the most beautiful, clean and quiet beaches of the Goa. The hotel is really good for mid budget. Room services are good. Well maintained rooms with good space and balcony. Food at foodland was good but we missed traditional Goan taste and it was bit at higher side. There are restaurants around this residency which had same prize range. We have also gone for North and south Goa tours from GTDC. They are economical but if you really want to explore things in Goa, its advisable to plan of your own as per your interest. Even if you are not willing to go for tours arranged by GTDC, you can relaxed in the residency and roam around to see adjacent beach, Dauna Paula, Panjim etc. River cruise was not that great. The traditional dances in which we were interested were few and sound system was not that audible, if you are party lover you might like it as there were few sessions where you can dance on deck.
Overall Miramar Residency is one of the best hotels in Goa to stay with moderate rates. More essentially it is so peaceful for relaxing.

Room Tip: Try to explore food outside the restaurant.

I must confess I was rather sceptical when I booked this hotel. We were doing our annual family gathering and required rather large open spaces which allowed us to get together during our short breaks, and which could cater to the requirements of all 3 generations. While looking at various hotels, I found this to be a good option. The deluxe cottages had its own verandahs, which had ample space for at least 8 persons to sit down together for a morning coffee or a late night drink. These cottages are not wheel chair friendly, but even senior citizens in the group could manage the small 2 - 3 stairs required to enter each cottage.

Once inside the cottage, well, you begin to realise why this is indeed a Government run resort. The sheets could be cleaner; the pillows a bit more fluffier; the bed could have been infinitely softer; but the rooms are quite decently sized (although each room is shaped and configured differently), the bathrooms are large, clean and decent; the lighting in the room is good... and how often do you stay in your room anyway when you are on a holiday... the pros outweigh the cons and I cannot complain. I was quite happy with the location and the fact that the grand parents and the grand children could all be accomodated for requests of their choice.

The location is good. If possible, do not engage local taxis; they are outrageously expensive. Instead there are local buses plying, you get them right outside the gate. These are very cheap, just Rs. 5 per head and not very crowded either. Ask the people at the reception or even the security person at the hotel, they are very helpful and are able to organise whatever you need.

The food is average...... the breakfast is average, this was possibly the only drawback I would say in the hotel.

Room Tip: Do not take Deluxe Cottage B 2. The bed is positioned weirdly. Block D cottages face the swimming...
