“A Spiritual Experience on the Banks of Krishna River”
Reviewed April 21, 2012

Situated on the Indrakeeladri hill on the banks of Krishna River, the Kanaka Durga temple is perhaps the most famous Devi temple in Andhra Pradesh. You can either drive up the hill or walk up the hill, something that many devotees do as a offering to God.

There are many options of queue times - from time taking free darshan, to Rs.20, Rs.50 and Rs.100 queue counters. The Rs.50 and Rs.100 queue counters also take you into the sanctum sanctorum unlike the other two options. The temple is very peaceful and you feel transported to a different realm.

In the same temple complex is the DurgaMalleshwara Swamy sanctum, the Shiva temple. You can get an abhishekam performed for Rs.20. The view out of this sanctum is a spectacular span of the Krishna river.

A must visit place in Vijayawada if you like temples or are religious or spiritual. The visit will take about 2 - 3 hours and is a good idea either in the morning before breakfast or in the evening around 5 - 6PM.
