We went on an excursion from San Salvador to Roatan and this is the hotel the tour company chose. The room was a bit outdated but that didn't bother me. The room was clean, the AC was wonderful and the location was great! We could literally walk to West End and check out what was going on. When we waked back late at night and had no problems as we felt safe. If you're looking to sleep on budget, in a clean, air conditioned place with an excellent location, than this is your spot. They have diving packages as well.

It was good karma and a little luck that I wound up here for my first stay in West End and did my PADI Dive Certification with their dive shop. On West End, it doesn't take long to see and know that at Seagrape Resort, you are staying at, and with, the BEST. Really and truly, everything about Seagrape is AMAZING, the resort itself, the Dive Shop and their entire staff. This resort is a welcomed 5-10 min. walk to the 'strip', away from the noise and crowds - a peaceful and beautiful oasis - nicely tucked away on the sea in a lush landscape of bright flowers, hammocks, a pool and smiles. We LOVED being a 5-10 strol from the hustle and bustle, as it's a beautiful and welcomed walk after a meal. After diving or the beach, you can unwind in their beautiful pool (maybe the only one on West End), or read, work, or eat under one of their gazebos, a nice respite from the sun. Another special feature of Seagrape are the beachfront bungalows, and I had an equally wonderful stay in both a large room in one of the main hotels as well as the bungalow, all of which have an incredible view of the sea and a private deck with hammock and chairs. The dive shop is a hidden gem, private, professional, and upbeat and FUN! They provide complimentary refreshing fresh fruit, juices and cookies at the shop and on the boats, and have all of the guys help with all of your gear. After a quick walk along the other hotels and dive shops, you quickly see the huge benefits of Seagrape Dive Shop - the other shops on the strip will have you darting cars and crowds in the street with your equipment, showering while people watch you while they eat their lunch. Seagrape Dive Shop is private, tucked away on the water. You'll grab your gear then walk 10 feet to a boat! I enjoyed my stay and the staff so much at Seagrape that I decided to return, extending my stay following a stint in West Bay and Cayos Chochinos. Everyone on their staff is SO friendly, kind, welcoming, accommodating, and happy - from Mariela & Jessica in reception, to Cleve, Rachael, Tony, Ricki & Haisan in the Dive Shop, Tasha & Sandra housekeeping to the smiling, and waving groundskeeper - EVERYONE is happy to be there and happy you are, too. Whenever I return to West End for fun and diving, this is where I will stay.

Room Tip: If you're looking for a little romance, get a beachfront bungalow - each has private deck, chair...

I've been diving with sea grape for four years now. Customer service is great. They treat you like family and take care of your needs. You are off the crazy west end strip so peaceful boats good. Tony has faith in experienced divers and lets you dive to your desires. I will be back for sure.

Warning #1: (Somehow we missed this before we have picked this place): There is no beach around! You do have an access to the sea and the offshore coral reef but there is no beach around. The closest beach is in the town - 15 min walk.
Warning #2: We rented 2 bedroom bungalow. It is VERY rustic.... everything is very old but to our surprise everything works!
Warning #3: There was no TV in our rooms but fortunately for us it was BIG PLUS!! :-)
Warning #4: There is no restaurant on this property, but you do have several in town within walking distance...
Warning #5: AC is very noisy and it is to difficult to sleep the whole night without it...
Then why did I put 5 stars?
1. Incredibly friendly people - Cleve, Mariela and others - it was simply a pleasure to have them around.
2. Great Diving Center - not crowded like many other places in town
3. Nice (but small!) swimming pool. If you were tired it was great place to get some suntan.
4. Nice place for snorkeling within 10 swimming minutes.
5. Inexpensive (we paid $120/day for 2 bedrooms.
6. Verandas with the hammock where you could watch beautiful sunsets.
7. Very quiet surrounding. All the noises from the town were gone!!

This was my 4th year visiting Seagrape Plantation in Roatan, Honduras and I am starting to feel like family. At the office Mariela and Jessica always greet guests with a warm welcome and will help guest any way they can. The dive shop staff is super. Rachael and her team, Tony, Cleve, Ricky, and Hisen are so helpful. I have a bad back and did not have to touch the dive gear at all....I felt special ...BUT THEY HANDLE GEAR FOR EVERYONE!!!! I certainly enjoyed the first class treatment I received. Many dive shops don't go the extra mile. Dive/accommodation packages are very reasonably priced. The ocean front cabanas are great with the million dollar view. Where else can one open their door in the morning, lay in a hammock, and watch the ocean roll by. AMAZING. The cleaning and yard staff are great....I only wish I could speak more Spanish to be able to talk with them. Don't forget to tip them too!
Although there is no beach on the property but there is a ladder that one can enter the ocean to explore the reef. There is a refreshing fresh water pool to relax by after a hard day of diving. The grounds are very quiet and away from the hustle of the village.
West End shops are a short walk away. Don't be afraid to try the small street food venders. I ate at many of them and did not have any problems. About a 10 minute walk (between the 2 pier restaurants) there is a very small red and white shack with a Coke sign above that has the best Beleadas (not sure of spelling) for 20 limps. I went there every morning. I enjoyed many lobster and shrimp meals at the various restaurants.
I often went into town by myself and did not feel threatened at all, blend in!! I traveled to other areas by using the local collectivo vans, they do stop and ask if you need a ride..and take the water taxi between West End and West Bay...nice view.

I recommend Seagrape Plantation to all travelers ...great location, affordable, clean, comfortable, and the best staff/family you can find!

Room Tip: Ask for the ocean front cabanas!!! no TV but what a view.........

This place was exactly as the reviews described. Friendly staff who collect you from the airport (we were given a tour of the island and dropped off at a various places to get supplies, by Cleve), hot coffee throughout the day at reception, fresh water in the rooms and attentive, but not intrusive service. We stayed in a bungalow (I booked two unit side by side), overlooking the Caribbean. Accommodation is a good size with AC and ceiling fan, small fridge, and balcony with hammock and loungers. The bed was extremely comfortable and at night it is very quiet. I would definitely stay there again if we return to Roatan.

An easy walk to West End for breakfast and dinner (street lit so didn't need a torch). We recommend a chicken place near the end of the strip on the left for dinner (great value and yummy food) and for breakfast the bar right next door - which is not open at night - lovely smoothies and American pancakes.

Roatan itself is an island of huge contrast in wealth and ethnic groups. Although we felt safe at Seagrape, generally you need to keep your wits about you if you are out and about at night and don't draw attention to yourselves as naive tourists. A lot of the islanders speak English, but having Spanish definitely helps with taxis and buses (else they charge a lot more).

And finally the dive school at Seagrape is fantastic. My husband and daughter went diving twice and loved it. Thank you Tony.

Room Tip: Bungalows overlook the sea, whereas rooms don't have this view. Keep covered at night, deet did...
