“Best dive shop in West end”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 10, 2013

Seagrape hotel and dive shop is a fun and friendly environment everybody there is family. Excellent diving and dive masters. After each dive they have fruit, crackers, cookies and juice which tasted so good after a dive. One of the best parts of going diving there is you never carry any equipment to the boat. It's all ready for you before you get there. Just get on the boat and go dive. If you're planning your vacation to Roatan you'd be smart to go to Seagrape hotel and dive shop. I was very very happy staying there and diving.

A warm, friendly welcome at the airport started our trip in Roatan and continued though out our stay. Mariela and Jessica met us at the office and within seconds made us feel at home. Walking over to our bungalow we were greeted by every employee on the grounds. Sandee, our housekeeper, met us at the cabana door and made sure we were all settled in. Arriving on a holiday weekend, we concerned about the crowds and noise. To our great delight, Seagrape was serene and peaceful, although totally booked. Our bungalow faced the sea and we enjoyed simply relaxing on our front porch watching the waves brake on the lava rocks along the shore. Although there is not a beach, (one is within a few minutes walk) there is access to the water via a diving ladder and affords fantastic snorkeling right in front of the resort. The freshwater pool overlooks the reef and has plenty of lounge chairs for sunning or a large covered area to relax in and enjoy the fresh air. The dive shop is adjacent to the resort on a well protected cove. The staff was soooo accommodating and helpful. We wanted to attend an Easter Sunday service, and Cleve, chief greeter, enthusiast, and host, not only dove with us in the morning, but also led us to church on his scooter while lending us his car to drive that evening! If you are looking for a great quiet getaway within minutes walk to food and entertainment this place can't be beat! Things to know - This is not a high end over developed resort. This is a wonderful, laid back, relaxing, low key piece of paradise. There is air conditioning and a small refrigerator in all the bungalows, TV is available in the hotel rooms. Fresh drinking water is provided in the room every day. Hammocks and deck chairs, reading material available and coffee in the office every morning. By the 2nd day, you feel like family, by the third you are family!

Room Tip: Bungalows are the best for views and privacy.

First class dive operation and such helpful staff, clean, organised, safe. Provide clean towels & fruit and drinks between dives.
Absolute wonderful dive experience, great boat with ladder & launch pad. Friendly helpful dive master and dive instructor & receptionist Rachel - would recommend it to anyone. Diving does not get much better than this.
We did not stay at Seagrape but we stayed nearby at Blenny House. Peaceful, tranquil side of West End. 5 mins walk to Seagrape. My husband took his own diving gear, which they washed & dried ready for the next day's flight home. Worth tipping these guys, they work hard.

Room Tip: Any accommodation nearby Seagrape is good. Keep away from downtown West End unless you like to part...

My husband and I were looking for a nice, relaxing, romantic vacation. West End is lovely, a little town/strip full of restaurants and bars, with plenty of places to stay, but I prefered our 4 min walk to the quiet end of the strip to our resort with no cars driving by, no nightclub music, just the stars and the ocean sounds. A plus is this place is owned by Hondurans, whereas many restaurants and places we saw were owned by foreigners/expats. If I'm going abroad, I want my money to help the local community as directly as possible. This place is family owned and operated. They are passionate about making sure you are accomodated. The dive shop is across the street with a boat on a dock at the site (we saw MANY other dive operators and divers, carrying their gear through shallow water, heaving it up onto boats from the beach; no thanks). At Seagrape, the dock and rental gear are nice, well maintained, friendly staff haul everything for you; you can pay for your diving and your room together at checkout with one card swipe which is nice. The rooms were clean, pool was clean. All around, an amazing deal. There is no restaurant or bar on premises, but I enjoyed our 4-10 min walk down the strip each mealtime to choose a new spot each meal. This place is a diamond in the rough. (It had AC, mini fridge, hot water, clean towels, picked us up from the airport with a cute sign with our names printed on it, very helpful for anything we asked for; did have wi-fi at the office, but it was spotty, which is the case most places; it was being repaired too so may be fixed by now; nearly all restaurants have it too)

Room Tip: A bungalow is a must. There are other options, but not on the water, or with water views from what I...

We enjoyed five great nights in the beach side bungalows. I was traveling with a friend and we each enjoyed our lodging! The office staff is very helpful and want to insure that everything is fine with your stay. It was very nice to have a new pitcher of water each day rather than lugging a 5 gallon bottle as they have you do in other resorts. It was a short walk to the dive shop where we enjoyed some great diving!!! We had an electric skillet so we were able to make most of our dinners and enjoyed dining on the front porch while admiring the ocean. Their pool was great. Love the tile work and the waterfall across the middle. They also have outside showers so you can rinse before and after you have gone in the pool. At one end of the complex, they have a walkway to the ocean where a ladder is attached for snorlers to get in/ out easily. A lot of the lisland has coral beds for beaches which makes it impossible to get in the water but Seagrape took care of that issue. They also provide coffee in the office and free wireless internet. The internet did not always work but then it is an island!! They have a safe in the office so you can be sure that your important documents and money are will be safe.
It is a short walk to town where there are many restaurants to enjoy. There is a bar next door along with several downtown.
There is also a pavilion area on the side of the pool where groups can gather to socialize.

Loved our time in Roatan. Found the area to be family oriented and peaceful. The folks at Seagrape Plantation are top notch. Very helpful; the dive folks most encouraging. Found the snorkeling and diving amazing!! Specifically about Seagrape: we stayed in a cabana that overlooks the ocean. Not fancy, but very comfortable and clean. A/C was wonderful for the late afternoon. Slept fine with the windows open at night. They provide clean drinking water. Room has a fridge. No internet at the cabanas; had to sit near the hotel office. That being said, I felt comfortable there, had a beautiful view, shade, and it was good to "fast" from the internet while in the cabana. Enjoyed morning and evening coffee sitting on our front porch, watching the ocean. It is a short walk to town (less than 5 minutes) where there are fruit venders, stores, a coffee shop, and enough restaurants to eat someplace different each meal. Figure your meals to run between $5-$30 per person depending on where and what you eat. This is a family run operation. They are professional, giving you space if that is your desire, or welcoming you with open arms. Thanks to all of you at Seagrape for a wonderful week!!
