We stumbled upon this little gem and never wanted to leave...we even stayed an extra night. Cocolobo is a very peaceful slice of heaven with ocean views and amazing sunsets. And only a 5 minute walk into town. Everything is brand new and the small personal touches make it very cozy. The rooms are big, bright and airy with nice spacious bathrooms, closets, small refrigerator, fan and a/c. The IPod speaker stand in the room and the hammock on our deck were a nice treat.

Heidi prepares a breakfast buffet of fresh fruit, cereal, juice and coffee each morning with a warm entree that changes daily (eggs, pancakes, etc.). Delicious. The snorkeling is pretty amazing on this island and you do not have to go far....a few steps and you are in the water. The only time you really have to leave is for dinner...unfortunately they only serve breakfast.

The rates are incredibly good and the owners, Rory and Claire were very hospitable and helpful, all in all a thumbs up. Would definitely go back...highly recommend staying here.

Rory and Claire, the owners, couldn't have been sweeter! This is an awesome place to go to for the complete laid-back vacation. The area has dirt roads, for the most part, but the scenery and the diving is the "hook". People are very friendly, too. This hotel is small and sort-of bed and breakfast like. The rooms are very spacious with a hammock and chairs outside each one looking directly at the ocean and the black coral beach. Power goes out occasionally, as it does everywhere on the island, but that is just the way it is. I would highly recommend it to everyone who needs to get out of their zone and really kick back. You won't regret it at all!!!

We are patting ourselves on the back for finding Cocolobo on the Internet, since we had never been to Roatan (or Honduras) before. What a wonderful B and B, nestled in the tropics, with terrific staff and a perfect location. We stayed there nine days and it was a one of the main reasons we enjoyed Roatan so much.

All the rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished, with lots of closet space and shelves, a large vanity and a giant shower stall that can accomodate all your snorkeling/diving clothing. Each room also has a huge covered patio/deck which we enjoyed on the days that we were feeling lazy or in the early evenings that we didn't join the other guests around the pool. Since the property is only 3 years old, everything still has a fresh, new feel.

The buffet style breakfasts were just what we like. Fresh fruit, juice, coffee and a light main entree, cooked by Heidi, who makes a fabulous pineapple/banana pancake. Purified water was always available, which is a big plus for me, and the rooms have a small refridge.

The proprietor in residence, Rory was the perfect host -- he was a great resource for the best snorkeling, restaurant info as well as anything else we needed. He really facilitated us on our last day, when our flight didn't leave until 5:00 pm.

For a person who can't take full sun all day like myself, Cocolobo offered a pleasant respite from the heat. Air conditioning is available for a small extra charge, or you can always find comforatable, shady areas.

Cocolobo was in easy walking distance to the small grocery stores, AND the numerous and diverse restaurants. We don't plan to return to Roatan anytime soon, as there are so many more places on our list. However, we'd recommend this wonderful accommodation without hesitation to all of our friends, and travelers like us who appreciate peace and quiet, but like to be near the action.

If you are looking for a week of utter bliss, Cocolobo on the west coast of the island of Roatan is the place to stay. It is a perfect combination of seclusion (if you want it) peace, wonderful sea views, great atmosphere, simple luxury, delicious breakfasts and, importantly for some, proximity to the restaurants, dive shops and bars of west end. Hosts Rory and Claire are laid back but attentive, always at hand to offer advice on what to do and where to go on the island. Activities to keep oneself busy include yoga classes, snorkelling, swimming across the bay, diving, visiting the botannical garden, cavorting with dolphins, going out on boat trips or simply hanging out in the pool. Wonderful.

What a great two-week stay!! Cocolobo is located on the north side of Roatan about a five minute walk from West End but that short walk makes all the difference. Being close to the heart of West End is great for diving, restaurants, entertainment, strolling, etc., but, when you want peace and quiet, far enough away that you can find a respite in order to read, sunbath near the pool, and sleep undisturbed. Cocolobo is relatively secluded and small, currently consists of 8 rooms, 4 rooms located in two separate free-standing 2-story buildings built on either side of the "main" building which currently houses the bar, breakfast area kitchen, and offices (the offices will shortly be converted to two additional guest rooms). It is quite close to the ocean on the arid "ironshore" which is not sandy. The benefits of this location are very few insects and generally GREAT breezes (we never turned on the A/C and used only fans). While you can snorkle near the site, access to the water is a bit tricky. A quick walk brings you to Halfmoon Bay and a wide sandy beach. The very satisfying breakfast (included) invariably had fresh fruit, juice, great coffee, cereal, and a revolving hot entry such as eggs and bacon, pancakes, etc. We thoroughly enjoyed our hosts Rory and Claire, two adventurous Brits, who made our stay delightful (ask them about their day sailing adventure!). Having stayed in other West End locals (incl Luna Beach resort, Lands End, Seagrape), this is was our best choice by far.
P.S. No problems with electricity during our stay (RECO, the Roatan power company, was recently bought by an American billionaire and is well on the way to "normalcy").

My girlfriend and I went down to Roatan for spring break. We stayed at Cocolobo and couldn't have been happier. It's close enough to the west end to walk everywhere, but far enough not to be really loud. The view from our room was spectacular. We were probably less than 50yrds from the ocean. The hotel manager, Rory, couldn't have been nicer. He tried to help us out whenever he could. We really had a great time and would reccommend this place to anyone.
