Description: Tong's Thai Island Cuisine is one of the most popular places to eat out in West End, Roatan Island, Honduras. The restaurant is considered a sort of minor celebrity on the island and locals as well as visitors try it at least once when visiting the West End area. Tong's Thai Island Cuisine has been built reflecting the heritage and originality of where it came from. It supports a traditional Thai look which makes it stand out like a jewel among all those island bars and fun-in-the-sun beach cafe types. The restaurant gives off an aura of old world Thai culture mixed with the stunning beauty of the tropical Caribbean islands; sort of taking the best of both worlds and combining them to form this beautiful place. It holds elements from both the Thai and the tropics; the seating and flooring along with the whole building has been made out of wood which is very island style. The decor, the foliage, the plating and the entire ambience has been arranged to mimic the Thai style which brings about an exotic harmony of the two cultures. Tong's Thai Island Cuisine provides a chance for both locals and vacationers to have a taste of the diversity of Thai food. It is the only restaurant serving this cuisine, which makes it an even more unique place. It is located in the middle of West End itself, in a prominent area. Lunch and dinner are served here with an amazing variety of flavorful Thai cuisine. This Asian cuisine uses very subtle flavors that are so different from those used on the island. For example, tamarind sauce, fish sauce, palm sugar, tangy and fragrant herbs and spices combine to achieve that exotic sweet and sour Thai taste. This provides a startlingly lovely contrast with the freshly squeezed fruit drinks offered made from the island's tropical fruit. Tong's Thai Island Cuisine is the place to be if you're a food lover on vacation and even reviews say it is a must try place on Roatan Island. Tong's Thai Island Cuisine Tong's Thai Island Cuisine One of the most preferred dishes in Tong's Thai Island Cuisine is the Pad Thai. It is served both with lobster and shrimp and has gotten rave reviews from customers and staff alike. All of the dishes are fresh, steaming hot, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. Small flavors like lime, extra spices, and dried chillies are offered to the customers to enhance the essence and aroma of the food. They have a great variety of soups and starters paired with vegetables, meat or chicken to awaken your appetite and leave you hungry for more. The staff is extremely well trained and they make sure that no client leaves the restaurant unhappy. They are discreet, well mannered and very quick with the service.

“Amazing Thai”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 23, 2014 via mobile

Heard it was good so we took a taxi over from west bay. Literally the taxi pulls up right next to the place. It's on the water side, no sign right now on the street due to name change.

It's name is Thai Cuisine, ownership change but the chef of 6 years is still here.

Food was the second best Thai food I have had. Have not been to Thailand but we live in an area with many Hmong and Thai immigrants, so we have access to very good authentic Thai. This food was very good.

Masa man curry was outstanding. Young daughter got pad Thai and it was the best I have tasted. Panang curry was amazing. It's not cheap but it's very good. Service was excellent.

“Very good (and SPICY) Thai!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 20, 2014

Excellent Thai restaurant. Don't look for the sign. They're apparently changing names, and it's down for now. It's the gray building on the beach with a lighted-dot sign that says, "Thai Food." The service was some of the best we had in West End, and the view of the bay was wonderful. Try to get there when the sun's about down or it'll be pretty warm. I got the shrimp fried rice, and it was great. They may have switched up the spicy orders though. My wife ordered super-extra spicy, and I ordered medium. Hers was mildly spicy, and mine almost killed me! It was great though. Wonderful food, reasonable prices, and if you like spicy....this is the place!

“Excellent food and atmosphere”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2014

Our group of 8 stopped here for dinner towards the end of our trip. The food was fabulous! Most us had chicken pad thai - some spciy and some not - either way it was good - the best I personally have had. My husband had the beef curry and he raved about it as well. If we had been there earlier in our week - I am sure we would have gone back before we went home.

We sat close to the water after sunset and it was a very nice setting for good food and good friends.

“just fine - watch the $ conversion”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2014

Came here one evening around sunset, and nice to see everyone on the various docks, enjoying the disappearing sun. Food was just fine - good, not great. Service seemed a bit spotty (fellow on dock in front of us appeared to have been forgotten - main not delivered for a looonnngggg time). Hey, it could have just been that night. One unforgiveable thing - the tab showed (correctly) the amounts in Lempiras (a little over 1,000), but the spot to the left showing US$ was $65. The lempira is approx. 20 to the $1, so it should have read a little over $50. "Mistake" pled, but this kind of thing appears a bit rife on the island. **know the conversion** (easy method, remove on the of the zeros (move the decimal to the left) and divide by two. So 700 lempiras = $35. The only other aspect of this that galled me was the stamp above the US$ shown indicating that service was not included in this. Argg.

“Phenomenal Thai Food in beautiful dockside location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 17, 2014

We usually dont go to the same restaurant twice in a vacation, as we like to experience different places. However, we went to the Thai restaurant 3x (!!!) in one week in Roatan. Glorious food, excellent, friendly service and what a beautiful setting.
