Vivaro Roatan
Reviewed April 12, 2009

My cousin was teaching on the mainland so we decided to meet in Roatan for a week vacation but I didn't know very much about it....Jenny was great and answered all my questions via email. Her house and cabins are in a perfect location, nice and quiet but a short, easy and safe walk into town. Cabins are clean and simple but have everything thing you need and Jenny is great. I would highly recommend! Enjoy West End is a great getaway!

We also love the location. Close to everything but far enough removed to be peaceful and private.
Check out Vivaro Roatan - two new three bedroom villas in the the same fantastic oceanfront location close to the heart of West End.

This was my fifth trip to Roatan, and my first stay at Blennys cabin after meeting Jenny a few years ago. You can not ask for a better location with no need for a car, TV, radio, or newspaper to unwind and relax. Short Walking distance to the Sea Grape dive shop, Woody's "supermarket" and all the great restaurants in West End. Jenny's hospitality and general care for her guests is exemplary. I'm sure I'll be back to work on some serious hammock time.

We showed up for a month, and stayed for 2! The Blenny Cabin's were our first stop in Roatan, only a few minutes from the bustle of west end, it is like you entered your own secluded island when you take the short walk out of town to Blenny's Cabins. It is calm and peaceful with a feeling of serenity. The rustic cabin, decorated with local art and fresh flowers makes you feel welcome from the start. When you walk to the back porch and settle into the hammock next to the outdoor kitchen overlooking sunset on the Caribbean sea you will never want to leave. Blenny's is the best deal on Roatan a hidden local secret catering not to the masses but the most appreciating clientele. A lovely place to rest your head in paradise.

Blenny Cabins is one of Roatan's best-kept secrets for accomodation location, comfort, affordability, and privacy. Located a lovely 4-minute walk from beautiful Half Moon Bay as well as all of the action of West End, our (duplex) cabin had two comfortable beds (one double and 1 single), a bathroom with shower, A/C, small fridge and microwave, and an outdoor kitchen on the covered veranda. The interior was tasefully done with wood decor. We stayed for two months (July and August) at very reasonably-priced rates. Shrub landscaping buffered our building from the access road which was seldom used other than by the local water, juice, and fresh vegetable trucks! A lovely lawn area provided an unobstucted view of passing cruise ships, dive boats, and lovely sunsets from the hammock on our veranda. And ... we hardly had any biting insects to deal with! Private access and awesome swimming, snorkelling, and diving were just steps away on our 'Iron Shore' beach (bring 'beach shoes' though). Jenny was most accomodating; she went 'above and beyond' to make everything perfect for us! If you're looking for a step up in accomodation, ask Jenny about Blenny House!

We went to Roatan looking to check out buying land and wanted something relatively cheap and cheerful to stay with our 2 kids, aged 10 and 12. We stayed in the owner's side of the house which she had vacated as the rental side was booked up already. The place was great in terms of convenience (to West End, Spanish School and ferries to West Bay); we had a place to park the car we rented and the place was clean and tidy.
We took up the owner on the offer to pick us upon arrival at the airport and take us grocery shopping so we didn't have to figure out how to get around the island after a longish trip.
Only complaint on the location was a lack of dining table & chairs (which I'm told exist in the rental house), lack of decent crockery and the a/c in one of the two bedrooms wasn't working. We did ask for a coffee maker upon arrival and that was provided within 24 hrs.
I understand none of these issue exist in the rental property so you should be fine and the owner is very accommodating in trying to meet your requests and answer any questions ahead of your stay.
All in all, a comfortable, roomy place to stay and provided the issues don't exist in the rental house (which from the other reviews don't appear to), I'd recommend it to others.

We stayed in the cabins, but had no neighbors while we were there so had the place to ourselves, best budget place we could find (for a rather expensive town), very clean, Jenny is very nice and friendly, well located by the sea, fun outdoor kitchen, 10 minute walk to town and dive shops, definitely recommended, would stay there again if we went back to Roatan.

I stayed at Blenny House for a month last September and it was the best experience I have ever had staying in a privately owned house whilst away. It was clean, well maintained and a pleasure to stay in.

Miss Blenny, (Jenny) the owner offered a shopping service before I arrived and the fridge was full of food and drink, (one less thing to worry about on your arrival). The house is spacious with beautiful wooden floors, the porch at the back of the house looks out over the ocean. The vibe is absolutely wonderful and you have the ocean just at the bottom of the garden where you can take you snorkel gear and see the most beautiful fish and coral reef.

Miss Blenny has three very cute kitty cats that will come and keep you company, this is one very special house!!!

If you're after a nice relaxing time or want to go out and party, you have the best of both worlds on the island!! You won't be disappointed...

You are about a five minute walk from the West End and Half Moon Bay where all of the bars and shops are, which is nice and convenient, especially after a couple of Port Royals!!

I would recommend staying at Blenny House to all of my friends and family. :-) It's all of the little personal touches that make this place worth visiting!
